A Lowndes County man has vanished and authorities say they need your help to find him. 47-year-old Keith Rocheleau has not been seen since last Tuesday.
The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office says Rocheleau was taking care of his parents' home in Brooks County while they were out of town, but when they returned, he was nowhere to be found.
The only trace of him was his truck that was found stuck in mud on Cooey Road in Brooks County.
Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 229-671-2950.

Where is Keith Allen Rocheleau?
VALDOSTA — The family of a man who has been missing for just shy of three weeks is hoping area residents will help them in their quest for answers.
Keith Allen Rocheleau, 47, was reported missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Aug. 7, according to reports. He was last seen by his parents on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at his residence on Barrett Lane in Lowndes County.
According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, “Keith Rocheleau lives on Barrett Lane by himself. His parents, who live on Cooey Road in Brooks County, had gone out of town and left Rocheleau to watch their home. When they returned, they discovered that his vehicle had been stuck in mud and abandoned. Indications are that Rocheleau had attempted to free his vehicle by using his father’s vehicle. The father’s vehicle was found stuck and abandoned in the road ditch also on Cooey Road.”
The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office are both working the case.
Keith Allen Rocheleau’s ex-wife, Dawn Rocheleau, said that his cellular phone, his glasses and his hat were all found in his parents’ yard. The shoes he was wearing at the time were found in the ditch, each one separated from the other by a few feet.
Dawn Rocheleau said that it appears Keith Allen Rocheleau had driven over to his parents’ house to simply check their mail and make sure everything was as it should be in the area.
“From the looks of things, he had only gone over there for a few minutes,” she said. “He had their dog at his house and had taken out some meat to thaw for dinner, but he never made it back home.”
Prescription medications taken by Keith Allen Rocheleau were left behind as well.
Dawn Rocheleau said that a few people have tried to help the family search the area surrounding the parents’ house in the hopes of finding Keith Allen Rocheleau. However, they only got so far and were not able to find anything.
“His parents’ house sits just down the road from the Riverbend Plantation, which covers several thousand acres,” she said. “It’s a wooded area and is difficult to get around. The Withlacoochee River sits about a mile from the road.”
Dawn Rocheleau said that Keith Allen Rocheleau’s parents are devastated and that the whole family — including his three sons — is desperate to know what happened to him.
They hope to organize a large search party effort as soon as possible but really need the support of the surrounding communities to do so.
A Facebook page has been established by friends of Keith Allen Rocheleau. To access it, please visit www.Facebook.com and do a search for his name.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Keith Allen Rocheleau is encouraged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2950 or the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office at 263-7558.

Have they used dogs yet? He is on medications. Do you know what for? Could it have to do with an ailment he may have that could be the reason he is missing?

Search for missing man continues
By Jessica Pope
The Valdosta Daily Times
August 26, 2009 11:35 pm
— QUITMAN — Some three dozen men and women gathered Wednesday to search for answers in the case of a missing Lowndes County man.
However, by the end of the day, all everyone was left with were more questions, the most important one being, Where is Keith Allen Rocheleau?
Organized by Pam Mathis and Chris Roland, the last-minute citizen investigation was an attempt to give the family of Keith Allen Rocheleau, 47, some peace of mind. The father of three sons and friend of many has not been seen in over three weeks.
“I am just a concerned citizen,” said Mathis, who works for Century 21 Winnersville Inc. “I learned about the case and simply wanted to do something to help this family.”
Mathis and Roland met through a Help Find Keith Allen Rocheleau Facebook page. Neither knew the Rocheleau family personally. Both of them had to only imagine what it must be like to have a loved one missing to want to offer some assistance.
The diverse group of volunteers convened at the Quick Stop Food Mart on the corner of Rocky Ford Road and U.S. Highway 84 starting around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Standing in front of the store, each one made an effort to introduce himself or herself to the other members of the search party. Several representatives from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office were present, which, according to comments overheard, was a surprise to some of those gathered. Tensions appeared to be high, for one reason or another.
At least one volunteer, referencing the huddle of law enforcement officers standing at the entrance to the convenience store’s parking lot, commented that they were “just angry because they may have to leave their desks and actually do some work.”
Other volunteers viewed the situation as the ideal opportunity to downplay any potential, as well as any perceived, conflict between the two groups.
“Law enforcement seems to be offended that we have organized this search,” Mathis said. “But we are not doing it because we think they have done anything wrong. In fact, we feel they have done a phenomenal job investigating this thing. However, this is a big county and there are only so many of them and they can only do so much.”
With the volunteers gathered in a lopsided circle, Roland issued a few basic instructions. “You are searching this area today at your own risk. This is private property. You should respect it as such, as we are out here simply to help this family, not to create more problems.”
Lt. Keith Anderson of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office asked each of the volunteers to notify 911 if they found anything.
“Don’t mess with it or anything around it. Mark it as best as you can. Treat it as a crime scene,” the investigator said.
By 9:30 a.m., a caravan of cars and trucks, some pulling trailers with all terrain vehicles and a flat bottom jon boat, began slowly snaking its way on Rocky Ford Road to Clyattville-Nankin Road then to Cooey Road. On Cooey Road, they were met by soft sand, then hard, red dirt, ditches three feet or more deep in some locations and embankments as high as six feet or more in others. Neighbors riding four wheelers joined in as the caravan passed their homes.
The volunteers were divided into two groups and asked to sign a sheet of paper, giving their name, a telephone number and a next of kin. Both groups had members riding on four wheelers and on foot.
Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey said the area was full of snakes and called dispatch to send over an ambulance in case of an emergency situation.
Carrying little more than a walking stick, a bottle of cold water and a cellular phone, the volunteers spent the next six hours combing through several miles of pine trees and brush standing an average of six feet high.
Susan Keene, Keith Allen Rocheleau’s first cousin, examined nearly every patch of dense brush she came across in the hopes of finding some piece of evidence. She was joined by Jason Staley, who had already searched the area a couple of times, and his daughter, Tabitha Thompson; Bea Hemby and Jack West; as well as Pastor Chris Newbern of First Assembly of God in Adel. Every pile of dirt led to further inspection, often ending up being declared a gopher hole. Large patches of folded over brush brought a strange sense of hope.
“My family just wants to know what happened to him,” Keene said. “My aunt and uncle cannot take much more. I’m worried about them.”
Pastor Lee Barnes of Seasons Church in Valdosta also helped to search the area. He was joined by a few members of his congregation.
“(Keith) never missed a day of church unless he was sick,” he said. “He was a good man.”
Keith Allen Rocheleau, according to reports, was reported missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Aug. 7. He was last seen by John and Rose Rocheleau, his parents, on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at his home on Barrett Lane in Lowndes County. They had asked him to watch their house and take care of their dog while they went out of town for a few days.
Sometime between that Tuesday and that Friday, Rocheleau got his truck stuck in a ditch just down the road from his parents’ house. Authorities said that there is evidence that he attempted to free his truck using his father’s truck without success. His father’s truck was found quite a distance down the road, traveling away from the house.
Keith Allen Rocheleau’s mother and father found both trucks abandoned when they returned home. His hat was in a flower bed. His cellular phone was in the yard. His glasses were found at the edge of their property line near the woods. A steak was on the kitchen counter, having been left out for days. The back door was open, but nothing was missing. The dog was fine.
Keith Allen Rocheleau was nowhere to be found.
“We have spent several hours searching the area in a helicopter,” Dewey said. “We have had blood hounds in the area three times. The first time was the weekend right after he disappeared. They did not find anything.”
Brooks County authorities said that they do not believe Keith Allen Rocheleau is in the Riverbend Plantation area, which reportedly covers 8,000 or so acres. If he was dead in the woods, there would have been some obvious signs, like buzzards flying around, they said.
“There is no evidence of foul play” in the Cooey Road area, authorities noted.
Of course, they are quick to add that this lack of evidence does not mean that Rocheleau is OK. He could have accepted a ride from the wrong person. No one knows. They can only speculate.
It seems that asking questions only leads to more questions, not answers.
Brooks County authorities said they are going to continue to follow up on all leads. They had hoped to get a state helicopter with special heat-seeking technology in the area this week but were told on Wednesday afternoon that it would be impossible.
A Facebook page has been established by friends of Keith Allen Rocheleau. To access it, please visit www.Facebook.com and do a search for his name.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Keith Allen Rocheleau is encouraged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2950 or the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office at 263-7558.

why is it not possible to get a helicopter that does heat seeking there?
If the area is that muddy there must be signs of a struggle somewhere close by. Have prints been taken on both trucks? did he have a bank or credit card in his wallet? did he call for help on his cell phone? sara

The area is near the Georgia-Florida line but I would not think that would be an issue. Maybe budget cuts are the reason. I found this on line about helicopters:
Aviation
The Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit provides air support to the Georgia State Patrol and other state, federal, and local agencies in support of public safety interest for the citizens of Georgia. The Aviationunit is comprised of 14 helicopters that are located at six locations throughout the State. The operation locations are in Kennesaw,Thomson, Athens, Albany, Reidsville, and Perry
The unit performs search and rescue missions utilizing FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) camera systems and Night Vision Goggles. Many missing persons and criminals have been located using this technology. Other services include: manhunts, transportation of state officials, aerial photography, aerial surveillance, natural disasters, SWAT missions, forest fires, and static displays (high schools and colleges civic groups local law enforcement agencies air shows and churches

I sure would like that kind of helicopter to be in every state and have missing persons be a priority. I know it is not very realistic. sara

Keith Rocheleau still missing
By Jade Bulecza - bio | email
BROOKS COUNTY, GA (WALB) - The family of a missing Lowndes County is stepping up the search for him.
Investigators have been looking for Keith Rocheleau since he disappeared three weeks ago, but those searches haven't turned up anything.
On Wednesday, his family and friends organized a search party. Keith Rocheleau's family and friends are searching through thousands of acres in a rural area of Brooks County.
Rocheleau's been missing since August 4.
"I hate to say this but I don't think he's alive," said Rocheleau's son Lucas Rocheleau.
Rocheleau was taking care of this parents' Brooks County home while they were out of town, the night he went missing.
Investigators say he drove his red pick-up truck off Cooey road, then walked back to the house, got into his dad's truck and drove it into a ditch.
"Either he got off the road and got hurt maybe, even snake bite because it's just woods out there," said Rocheleau's ex-wife.
Several items of Rocheleau's were found.
"In his parents' yard were his glasses, his cell phone, his hat, and then down the road he lost his shoes, said Dawn. "We found his shoes in two different places."
The Brooks County Sheriff's Office is investigating. They've done three searches using K-9s.
"We've also used an aerial search with helicopters," said Lt. Keith Anderson, Brooks County Sheriff's Office. "We planned on doing another search with a helicopter at night with heat seeking devices."
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of foul play.
"I'm leaning towards another theory which I cannot go into at this time but I do think if he's in the area still, he's not going to be visible," continued Anderson. "I think he'll be in a shallow grave or up under some brush."
Rocheleau's family vows to keep searching until they have answers. Rocheleau's son Lucas says it would be completely out of character for his dad to leave and not contact anyone.
If you have any information that could help investigators, contact the Brooks or Lowndes County Sheriff's offices.

Authorities Temporarily Suspend Search for Missing Valdosta Man
47-year-old Keith Rocheleau went missing more than three weeks ago. And after five organized searches, authorities have temporarily stopped scouring the woods.

Search efforts for a missing Valdosta man have been temporarily suspended.
47-year-old Keith Rocheleau went missing more than three weeks ago. And after five organized searches, authorities have temporarily stopped scouring the woods.
The Brooks County Sheriff's Office says it's waiting for help from the state and for the stormy weather to subside.
"I kinda feel hopeless now," said Lucas Rocheleau, son of Keith Rocheleau. "If they're not gonna search because of the weather, they obviously don't want us out there. I guess I'm expected to sit here and wait on something. And that's really the hardest part---still waiting, waiting, and waiting."
Investigators say they're doing everything they can to find him

Lucas had a good point I think. I do not think I could just sit and wait. IMO

What We Think: Rocheleau one of many missing adults in U.S.
As of January 1, 2009, there were 102,764 active missing person records in the FBI’s National Crime Information Center’s Missing Person File. Persons under the age of 18 account for 49.7 percent of the records, while persons between the ages of 18 and 20 account for 12.3 percent and adults over the age of 20 account for 38 percent.
America’s missing persons are young and old and everything in between, male and female, rich and poor and middle of the road, black and white, etc.
Soon to be added to the Missing Person File — if not already included — is the case of Keith Allen Rocheleau.
The 47-year-old father of three sons was reported missing on Friday, Aug. 7. He was last seen by his parents on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Rocheleau, a resident of Barrett Lane, was keeping a watchful eye on his parents’ house while the two of them were out of town. His ex-wife believes that Rocheleau visited his parents’ house that Tuesday to make sure everything was locked up and all was well on the property. She said he obviously had no intentions of being gone very long because he did not take his medication with him and had taken a pack of meat out of the freezer to thaw for dinner.
Rocheleau’s parents returned from their trip and found Rocheleau’s vehicle and his father’s vehicle stuck and abandoned in the ditch down the road, along with Rocheleau’s shoes. His hat, glasses and cellular phone were in the yard.
Rocheleau was nowhere to be found, and no one has heard from him since. His ex-wife noted that someone in the area did report that they tried to help him pull his vehicle out of the ditch Tuesday night. It was the last time he was reportedly seen.
Rocheleau’s family and friends are very eager to organize a large-scale search party effort to comb the woods surrounding his parents’ house. There are thousands of acres in the area, as well as the Withlacoochee River. They are hopeful that he will be found alive but have considered the possibility that maybe he was hit by a vehicle, the victim of a crime of opportunity, had a heart attack or stroke, or was bitten by a snake. Rocheleau’s family has established a Facebook page that can be accessed by visiting www.facebook.com and doing a search for his full name.
Lowndes County and Brooks County need to join forces and help Rocheleau’s family and friends in their quest for answers. Share his story with others in the area. Organize a search party. He may be an adult, but Keith Allen Rocheleau is someone’s son, someone’s father, someone’s best friend and they deserve peace of mind, if not his safe return.

His father’s truck was found quite a distance down the road, traveling away from the house."

"In his parents' yard were his glasses, his cell phone, his hat, and then down the road he lost his shoes, said Dawn. " We found his shoes in two different places."

The area had over an inch of rain the previous week according to weather reports (Aug 1-7). I wonder if his shoes were so muddy that he pulled them off out of frustration?

I agree with the shoes. that sounds very plausible. but the glasses and cell phone in the yard is very suspicious. Sounds a lot more like a struggle than
the "supposed" Krsti Cornwell site. wish we knew more on the cell phones in both. like recent calls to and from and fingerprints. IMO sara

Please don't be sorry. I was trying to find out if you thought there was something not quite right about the abduction site. I've seen her boyfriend on tv and he seems very sincere so I don't have any doubts there but something about the whole thing just doesn't seem right to me. Probably just my imagination. Sorry, about going so off-topic.

OT doesn't bother me one bit. the 2 missings are kind of similar. I do not know if there is fowl play or not. and I still have not heard of a think about the location each one was "abducted" from. both hinky to me. I might think health problems with Keith and struggling with the trucks and mud but it does not explain his belongings all over the yard. Kristi has me very confused.

Son of Missing Valdosta Man: "We Want Closure"
Reporter: Kim Carapucci
Email Address: kim.carapucci@wctv.tv
It's been nearly two months since a Valdosta man went missing and his family is still searching for answers.
47-year-old Keith Rocheleau disappeared from his parents' home off Cooey Road in Brooks County August 4th.
Since then, authorities conducted multiple searches near the property, but came up empty handed.
Now, his family is left with more questions than answers, hoping every day there's a break in the case.
"Now we just really want closure and if anybody knows anything, we still want them to come forward, even if it's completely anonymous.. My family needs to know what happened to my dad, said Lucas Rocheleau, son of Keith Rocheleau.
If you have any information regarding Keith Rocheleau's disappearance, contact investigators at 229-225-4090.
