A Middleport taxidermist has been banned from hunting in Canada for 10 years after being convicted of illegally guiding bear hunters at an Ontario bear management area, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service has reported.
Daniel Vanderwalker, 55, the owner of Northwoods Taxidermy, was not licensed in Ontario and did not have proper immigration status to work there, authorities said.
The 14-month investigation was led by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
Authorities pointed out that Vanderwalker’s hunting license had been suspended for two years after he was charged in 1992 with hunting on the same Ontario land.
