Federal trial delayed in Chester Stiles sex case
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Federal trial is being delayed until May 18 for a Nevada man already facing multiple life terms in state prison for sexually attacking two little girls, ages 2 and 6, in 2003.
U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan in Las Vegas on Monday postponed Chester Arthur Stiles' trial on a charge of producing child pornography, which could carry a sentence of 15 to 30 years in federal prison.
The 38-year-old Stiles is accused of videotaping himself in the attack on the younger girl. Jury selection had been set to begin April 7 for his federal trial.
Stiles was convicted March 3 in state court of 22 felonies stemming from the assaults on the two girls in 2003. He is due for sentencing May 8.
