A Springville man was charged Sunday with sending sexually explicit photos to a 13-year-old girl, whose mother and two friends used the victim to confront the man, Erie County sheriff’s deputies said. All four adults face criminal charges as a result.
According to a police report, William L. Phillips, 23, of Eaton Street, admitted after the altercation Tuesday that he sent the photos to the girl. The photos upset the girl’s mother, Shirley A. Wilkinson of Springville, and Michael P. Hecht, 27, of Route 39 in Concord, and Grant A. Newman, 26, of East Main Street in Springville.
With the mother’s permission, the two men went to Phillips’ residence with the girl, using her as bait to lure him from the house in the hopes of starting a fight, the report said. “A physical altercation ensued,” between Phillips and the girl, the report said.
Hecht, Newman and Wilkinson were all charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Phillips was charged with both endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment. His cell phone was seized and more charges are possible.
