Question Brain Pick: Identify this killer

Hello all... been a while since I've posted and I have a question that, unfortunately, does not contain much information and is based on old memory, but needs answered; could you try to help me identify this killer?

According to my source, she heard about this killer upon her return from France, from her Aunt in New York (yes, I know it is friend of a friend, but it sounds legit and I am drawing blanks). The Aunt stated that this person was a serial killer who:

Only hunted men who all died
Cut off one single body part from each man
That ended up a pieced together whole man
That was then hung on a cross, crucifixion style.
The killer sent clues to the police as to where he would take his next victim
But police never arrived in time and only arrived to find the last clue: the crucified, pieced together from different male body parts, man.

She said this would have occurred around 1965 (when she returned back from France), so a general decade of 1960-1970 was given, though it could have happened earlier in the previous decade but she made it sound like it was occurring right around that time.

Any idea who this might be or if this person really exists?

Thanks in advance.
toni

toni do you have anymore information like "where in New York?". This sounds familiar to me like something I may have seen on TV. but it was a long time ago and I really cannot remember at this point. I am sorry. sara

I do not know if the killer acted in this area or not, but friend would have been living in Brooklyn at the time. Around the Sheepshead bay area.

Sounds like a movie...

Resurrection (1999). Check it out. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142804/plotsummary

Don't know if anything like that really happened, at least I haven't heard of it during the course of my study.
