NEW YORK: Former teacher Michael Kelly Reiner sentenced in child porn case

Michael Kelly Reiner, 48, of East Meadow, New York a former teacher described by parents and colleagues as caring and dedicated was sentenced Thursday in a federal court in Central Islip to 6 1/2 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

Reiner, had hundreds of still and video images of children on several computers when he was arrested in September 2006, prosecutors said. Some of the images depicted sex acts between adults and children younger than 5 years old, prosecutors said.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Bianco rejected the defense's arguments that Reiner received the images by accident and had tried to delete them five years ago. Many of the images were "extremely graphic," Bianco said. "It is all the more tragic that Mr. Reiner has betrayed his trust as a teacher."

After his arrest, Reiner was fired from the Long Island School for the Gifted in Huntington Station, where he had taught for 18 years.

This is badly reminiscent of a case in England going on at the moment where a nursery nurse and som people she met through facebook of all places distributed a load of pictures and indecent images of the toddlers in her nursery.

Lets just hope she gets locked up for many a year!

I am sorry to hear that Bates. It would be nice to lock them all up.
This Reiner guy obviously was distributing on multiple computers!!!!!!!!
