1 hr 43 mins ago
PECOS, Texas – Authorities in Texas say an uprising at a privately run prison has ended after the release of two hostages.
State Department of Public Safety dispatcher Patricia Dieschler said outside law enforcement officers returned control of the Reeves County Detention Center to prison personnel Saturday morning.
Dieschler said no law enforcement personnel were injured. The center's warden declined to comment.
Federal inmates at the prison took two employees hostage when the disturbance erupted Friday. The hostages were released late Friday.
Texas Trooper John Barton told the Pecos Enterprise that the inmates, who include immigration detainees, were asking for better medical treatment.
The prison holds more than 2,400 inmates.
