My Daughter's Story of Her Escape from Abuse

This is my daughter's story of spousal rape and abuse and her struggle through the justice system.

Her story appeared on the front page of the Chicago Tribune.

The abuser is scheduled for sentencing on 12/18/2008 in Will County Court (same one as Drew Peterson)

The page for the story doesn't exist any longer. Do you have a copy somewhere else you can post on the site? That is a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through, and she seems like a very strong woman!

The Tribune is doing a follow up. We think it'll be out next week.

The convicted felon's 13 counts and 3 additional counts cases have been postponed until Feb 5, 2008.

Harvard Law Prof Rosenfeld wrote the lethality assessment. Jenner & Block's Atty Rachel Morse is now representing Regan pro-bono. The Cindy Bischof Foundation wrote a letter to the court also.

Thank you for sharing this story. To know that a human being has been hurt this way re enforces the fact that the laws in our society are not keeping us safe enough. It also reminds us that the human race has a long way to go to be more evolved.

It saddens me deeply that so many are not coming forward to report abuse. We need to read these cases in order to learn how to identify the traits of abusers. It appears that they all have the same ones.

The first thing that struck me here is, he wouldn't allow friends in their world. That is a big red flag in any relationship.

My heart goes out to you both. Your daughter's bravery and yours, for telling this story are good. It takes a lot of guts to share this kind of thing with others. It will help somehow.

Pain and sorrow diminish with the telling of it. Wrap it up and give it to the world as a gift. Write about it. Teach with it. Then the blessing can be found in it.
