Thomas Filion
The retired BOCES guidance counselor who admitted to sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy in a shower stall at the Saratoga YMCA last fall will be spending the next three months in the Saratoga County Jail.
Thomas A. Filion, 68, of Elizabeth Lane, Saratoga Springs, a member of the Y, had pleaded guilty in September to first degree sexual abuse, second degree unlawful imprisonment, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.
Filion was arrested last November after the victim identified him from footage taken from security cameras at the Y. The actual incident was not caught on tape as there are no surveillance cameras in the locker room and shower areas.
Police said the incident allegedly happened when Filion allegedly entered the shower stall of the teen who was unknown to him and asked to borrow some soap. The victim allowed Filion to use the soap dispenser and Filion reportedly left only to return a short time later and allegedly placed his hand on the boy’s penis, blocking him from leaving the stall.
Saratoga County prosecutor Jennifer Jensen said Filion entered the boy’s shower stall three times. Filion faced a maximum of seven years in prison for the crimes.
