I need input from you- ladies and gentlemen!
I am asking for me personally but I think it might give someone else an idea
What are your favorite things to do on Halloween? Trick or treating is sorta out of the question..due to a miserable 2 year old with chicken pox.
I thought of baking Halloween cookies and hiding candy for the kids to find My kids are still little, so scary movies are out of the question.
Favorite cookie or any other "Halloween" treat recipes? I love to bake. and want the kids to be able to help... So help me CL!!!!!
Pictures of the treats or anything else Halloween would be nifty too... Do any of you go "all out" for the big day?

here you go Sugarbear an easy sugar cookie recipe
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
- 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups self-rising flour
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. stir in the self-rising flour to form a dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 1/2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make cemetary pudding.
Make a box or 2 of cocolate pudding.
Crush oreo's or some other chocolate cookie and make a thin layer on top of pudding.
Add some type of cookie that you can make to look like tombstones (even graham crackers will work) and line them up like tombstones. Not too many though. In front of each one use some of your crushed cookie stuff to kind of pile dirt up like a grave.
Add a few gummy worms, and/or spiders to the top. Or marshmallow ghost if you have them around there.

That's a cute one. Thanks FD!
I made cemetary pudding for my kids for years. They got such a kick out of it.
Another easy one is Rotten Apples.
Core your apples and place in a pan. Fill the centers with cinnamon redhot candies. Bake apples as usual but try not to get them too soft or they will collapse. Let cool and add gummy worms to look like they are crawling out of the center.

Thank you FD and Sis but Bran's little ones have just turned 2&3. She is afraid of the gummy worms being in the pudding because they might choke. I have been racking my brain this morning trying to think of something safe for them.
I remember doing things for my little ones but for the life of me I can't remember what, LOL...I am getting senile ....I know they wont really remember what it was like but she is trying so hard because Hannah who is 2 has the chicken pox and Kaleb has 1 I think, but they are both so miserable....I think the pudding might work just without anything hard in it..I know she wants them to help her bake cookies and decorate them...Her and my oldest daughter are the bakers in the family I am the cooker, meaning I do meals they do sweets, LOL...works out pretty good cause I never measure anything, lol

Unwrap a Mini Babybel cheese and take the wax off. Break 4 small pretzel sticks ("spider legs") in half and insert at an angle into the underside of the cheese, arranging 4 on each side. (For longer legs, use 8 whole pretzel sticks.) Add 2 raisins for eyes; use a pretzel to auger out eye holes.

Good idea.. What mom was saying-- I saw some thing where you kind of thaw ice cream and mix gummy worms or other things in there and let it freeze again-- thats when I would be afraid of them choking, being hidden an all.. But the stuff you were talking about being on top or sticking out- I do not think would be an issue.

I do too. My mom was good. She had 5 kids who hated fruit and vegetables but she got them into us one way or another. Cheddar cheese melted on broccoli, cheese melted on spinach and hollandaise sauce (homemade but not really) on asparagus and brusselsprouts. SHe was clever and good. All we ever wanted was dessert. LOL

LMAO, Sara, I don't mind if other people eat honey, I just can't stand it..When the kids used to come home from school, as snacks I would have celery with peanut butter, carrot sticks and all kinds of fruit with dip. That was their treat for after school. Now all my kids love veggies and fruit. Just like mama. We could live without meat, LOL...The ideas yall have come up with are great. Grneyes, I too miss not having little ones at home for Halloween. For that matter I miss not having little ones at Christmas time too... Love you my little Sugarbear

Now you know I was just messing with you but I do not know anyone else in the world who does not like honey.I know you were a great Mom cause brandy reflects it but do not tell her or she might get a big head. i would love to live without meat actually. And I am very sorry for grneyes and you with the holidays. I know it is hard. When my family was alive we drove through 5 hour blizzards for the holidays. it can be a very sad time for some. IMO sara

Thank you Sweetie. Holidays are just so different without little ones running around. Please don't give Sugarbear a big head otherwise we wont be able to fit her head into the door for Thanksgiving Now as far as meat, I will eat it once in a while but hubby grows lot of veggies and thats what I love. All kinds of greens, beans, corn, potatoes, etc...
