The parents of a seven-year-old "ratbag" who fed lizards to a crocodile during a reptiloe park break-in are likely to face civil action .The boy broke into the Alice Springs Reptile Centre On Wednesday morning and fed ten reptiles to the park's saltwater crocodile.Three other lizards were found bludgeoned to death.
Police indentified the boy from security camera footage and have spoken to him and his mother. But a police spokesperson said no further criminal action could be taken as he was younger than 10 and deemed not legally responsible.
The Centre's director, Rex Neindorf, said today he was disgused by the incident, and vowed to take civil action against the family of the boy, who he described as a "ratbag".
"We just want to see action taken against the people who were in charge of the child, whether it be the parents or the guardian,'' Mr Neihdorf said. "We want people to know that you can't go out and do these things ... we just want to see someone take responsibility.''
The seven-year-old scaled a rear fence to enter the reptile centre, and was taped by surveillance cameras. Among other images, the boy is shown throwing a goanna out of it's enclosure before tossing the reptile into the crocodile exhibit. The crocodile named Terry is shown eating the goanna.
Four years ago , teenagers broke into the centre and attacked Terry.
