Red face Truth and maybe even logic!

First of all, I'm sure I'm not a philosopher of any kind of merit but I like to try to understand since it would make a better world all round.

Second, I'm not quite sure about how much truth there is in any crimes I've studied, however I do look for inconsistant facts and try to make sense about what a book or movies says or represents. If some facts I believe and they are not the truth, then I guess I could be led astray.

Heaven knows I have been led astray in my life before, but I quit having to do with alot of sin in my life long ago, and started trying to make sense out of things around me. Who knows how you can still be misled but facts are facts and they can be proved or not proved. Then you just have to put things together and come up with some logic about why!

God tells us about rules we should follow in order for there to be peace amoungst us. Do you suppose lots of crimes occur because of sin or maybe even just unfeeling behavior toward each other? Isn't this thinking kind of fundamental? Doesn't anyone ever care about other people's delema in life? Does anyone ever think they have to defend themselves against some kind of abuse, sometime? Don't we all have things in common with each other? Does a person that sins, have to keep on sinning? Can't you ever have a right to do things better? Is there any real conversation about real problems that goes on or is it not possible? Does a person ever speak for themselves or does someone else do all their speaking for them? If someone does your speaking for you, does that mean they think your crazy and you can't speak for yourself or is there another reason? Do you think people get so angry at you, that they can no longer talk to you without hurting you and why, if that were so?

I like to try to understand but lots of facts don't seem to be there when I think they should be. You can't study crime if the facts aren't represented properly. Fiction in crime is silly because that won't make you feel good, you'll just be taken for a fool. If you want a theory on crime, you have to have facts so when do we dwell in fiction and when in fact? Does even a police report represent fact all the time, don't we always have to be questioning the facts and trying to get to the bottom of things? Now I can't stay out of questioning myself. The more I think about things the more questions I seem to be getting and then there are no answers.

Other people have said I represent 'the question', but that is so unfair to me, why can't there be answers to questions when you try to understand something? Are there to many secrets and so there cannot be answers? Are some secrets privet and then there are crimes because of it? Are there crimes because of secrets? I can't stop asking questions so I will have to close but sin is always the big question is it not? To sin or not to sin, is it the big question?

When you start making mistakes like that, can you ever get it right again? Does it have to do with big crimes because of big sins? What constitutes a big sin and what does not? Does sin have to do with crime? How do people get so mixed up, anyway? Should they ever know the truth from the falsehoods? Would it be very dangerous to be asking all of these questions, alone? Is there any sanity in crime or sin? Do we just loose ourselves in these ways which are folly? Is it like somebody loosing their temper? You loose yourself in sin. Would it be so aweful to want to find yourself and face yourself and would it be very dangerous to a very big sinner? Do you just have to keep right on sinning or can you just quit? Would anyone ever believe you anyway? Are there ever any answers or is it just a plague? Is that why they call it plaguerizing somebody?

I know I got off the topic here because I started asking questions instead of answering the questions but does anyone know what the questions are? Are the questions as important as the answers?

Are questions as dangerous as answers? Is it just a question of sanity or insanity or does that even seem to displace? Is there some sort of displacement going on? Doesn't everyone have to pay for their sins and crimes? I seem to be caught here I can't stop asking these questions so will quit before another one comes up and still try to post, I didn't say I had all the answers, I just thought I could try.

I wont presume to have the answers to your questions SC, but I can give you my thoughts on the subject. No one can know all the facts of a crime except teh perpetrator and the victim. So we can only go by what we are abe to discover on any particular case. Yes there are mistakes in teh facts but we can only work with what we have. You could ask this question until the end of time and you wont ever find all of the facts. That is unless you are the pertpetrator.

Now as to the question "Is there such things as a big sin and a little sin"? Yes in my opinion there is. The crime of stealing bubblegum at the age of five is a Little Sin. The crime of kidnapping torturing and then murdering someone is a Big Sin As you can see they are both sins because we are taught stealing is a sin and we are also taught murdering is a sin...So in my opinion those two sins are not in any way equal to one another.

Now on to the next question.."Do we lose ourselves in sin"? I think it depends on the sin and the depth of knowledge we may possess. I think the sin of adultry is believed to be such a case. For whatever reason the person has I think it's possible to lose oneself in such cases. In those instances maybe one just wants to be loved and looks outside the marriage because of their own personal reasons. They lose theirselves and so therefore I think you may be correct in your thinking it happens.

Can one choose to look at themselves and their sin and choose to stop? Yes I think they could. It really depends on that persons perception of their sin. You have to look at each case separately. Again unless you are the sinner, no one can possibly know all the facts. Simply because you can't get inside someones brain to know the reasons.

Next..Are the questions dangerous? Again we can only go so far in our knowledge. You are asking questions that require that you be God. I don't mean that badly, just that you are expecting the answers to questions that only God knows. we were not made to understand everything in our world and time. We can only believe that in the end we all are made to answer for our sins, indiscretions, and mistakes, no matter how big or small...

I hope I didn't offend you in any way. I just wanted to post my thoughts on your questions..Take Care~Susie

A very interesting and thought provoking post. I understand your point on little and big sins. However, let's take the child out of the equation and substitute adults. I have sinned plenty. I think sin comes from a lack of faith in believing God will provide not all we want but all that is necessary, speaking of bubble gum and murder for money. It has been said that the spirit is strong but the flesh is weak.

I think this is a good lead in to the subject of adultery. What God has joined together let no man tear apart. The question becomes what has God joined together and what has the flesh or the economy put together. The sin is against God and we all are weak, joining into all sorts of relationships, motivated by the weakness of the flesh and our own stubborn desires, as opposed to seeing if God has truly ordained the relationship. This is just my opinion.

I agree with you but I think Susie's heart and brain go a lot farther than just adultery. My opinion only but she is a gifted soul I am so happy to know her and her daughter. IMO

I don't believe in big sins/little sins. I don't believe in sin period. I believe in choice. People make a choice to do what they do and that's what it all boils down to. Sometimes there are circumstances that prevent them from doing it correctly such as illness (mental or otherwise), drugs, alcohol, etc. I do think there are good people and bad people, but even the bad ones make the decision to be that way in most instances.

Saying that having God in your life will make it better and make you a better person is no more valid than saying the Devil made you kill someone. I've seen a lot of horrible things done by people that have deep beliefs in God. Having that belief did not prevent them from choosing to do the horrible things. It only gave them the option to blame it on the Devil and be able to ask God to forgive them so that they can feel better about themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against religion and I do think it's good for people to have faith in something. I just don't like that faith being the excuse for their being good or bad and absolving them of what they have done. People themselves have to take responsibility for what they do and know that everything they do has consequences.

If I offended anyone I'm truly sorry. This is just how I personally feel about it.

There's no difference, in my opinion. Sin is sin. "The wages of sin is death." I'm not a religious man but I am spiritual. Man blames and has blamed God, Satan, demons, angels, and everyone else for his doings. Bad things can happen to anyone, no matter what they believe. Why do some people do bad things? I don't know. But I do know that these people don't want to be held accountable for their actions. I'd like to think that if an evil person gets away with evil in this life that he will answer for his crimes in the next.

Interesting theory. But there is only one thing wrong with it. We all sin at one time or another, that would mean that we would all have to pay for our sins in the next life[ if you believe that which I don't believe in reincarnation]. So no one would be safe from punishment. While I'm not overly religious I do believe that Jesus died for our sins. And if we truly pray to be forgiven he grants our prayers. There are sins of all different levels and we must acknowledge them and ask for forgiveness. Choosing to believe is each of our choices and we are free to make our own decision. But I do think that sin isn't all the same. I believe there are levels and those levels are what divides us from the true evil persons.

Dying is punishment for our sins. If one believes what's written, there are several sins that are unforgivable. I'm rusty, but I recall those sins being suicide and renouncement of the Holy Spirit.

Aww but you said if someone is evil in this life they pay for it in the next one. Since everyone dies it doesn't necessarily mean that is their punishment. While I do believe some sins are unforgivable also, wouldn't that mean their punishment would be much harsher than just dying? So dying couldn't be our punishment for our sins. Not trying to argue but trying to understand what you're saying.

So true. I have moved to a small born again Christian town from a large urban city about 20 years ago and the sins here are so rampant I have to laugh. We do not have rapes, assault or homicides but the adultery and embezzlement and larceny is rampant. Just Amazing to me. IMO sara

I know you know what I mean GE

I get what you are saying about sin... I believe that sometimes man blames others for his misfortune and often sins without regard for the choices he has made and is never held accountable for his actions... I believe that in his life if he never learns the difference and never repents than his sins are equal, if not worse, than the man who commits a more heinous sin and does repent. Therefore, sins can be quite equal...The wages of sin is death...in the sense that you have never earned the privilage of entering God's kingdom....Your body dies into eternity...that is sorta like hell and you are essentially dying for your sins....

I have a very good friend who is atheist....She is smart, beautiful and extremely successful and rich. We have arguments over out beliefs sometimes and I often wonder how she can have such a great life when she doesn't believe in God or any other supreme being...I wonder what is in store for her in the after life...so I get what you mean about paying for your crimes or sins in the next life(which in my opinion is your life in heaven or hell).....Ofcourse this is only my opinion and "opinion" is the greatest gift I have....

I always enjoy your thoughts Drummy....

I don't consider death to be a punishment for sin. It is just part of the cycle. Sometimes it happens way sooner than it should because of illness, accident, or whatever, but mostly, just because our bodies are worn out. I do believe that when our bodies die that our energy (or soul depending on what you believe) carries on. In science energy cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form. Our bodies emit energy, that is a proven fact. Therefore it must change form when we die. What form it changes to I don't know, but if science is correct, then it has to keep going.

As for repenting for "sins", that goes along with "I can do whatever I want as long as I ask for forgiveness". I can't buy into this concept no matter how big or little the "sin" because if it were true then ANY sin (or crime) would be forgivable no matter how heinous it was according to the bible. It doesn't allow for big or little sins. You can't have it both ways, either you forgive them no matter what or you don't.

I do believe in prayer because it is a process of sending healing energy and energy can be transferred from one object (or person) to another. As for praying to "god", no, I don't do that.

You are right that mankind blames others for his misfortunes. I'm guilty of that myself. I blame my dad and a couple others that liked young girls for how I turned out. But then when I think about it, the person I am isn't so bad even though l've lived through some very bad things. I try to be an honest an moral person. Moral to my standards and my standards are pretty damned tough. I try my best to treat people the way I want to be treated. I try to look at both sdes of a story before deciding who is right. Sometimes I don't think either are and so I choose not to take either side. This in itself has caused me lots of grief, but I have to do what I personally feel is right.

I can't stand people that only think their way is the only way. If I'm wrong about something I will be the first to admit it but if you don't seriously consider both sides then dont' tell me I'm wrong because you don't really know that. I do my best to look at ALL sides and I know I'm not always right, but I'm willing to listen to the other side to find out why I might be wrong.

Sorry all, I guess I'm kind of rambling right now. Believe it or not, in person I barely open my mouth because I am so not a talker unless I'm nervous or intoxicated. *lol*
