A Central Catholic High School girls track coach is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl after a private strengthening workout Friday and then chasing her down when she said she was going to report it to her parents.
Askia Brown, 33, faces allegations of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He was arraigned Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
The girl's father attended the arraignment and said he was speaking out about the case because he wanted other parents to be aware of what occurred. His daughter is not a student at Central Catholic, but had been taking private lessons with Brown for about a month, he said.
Though it's not uncommon for a coach to massage an athlete's muscles, "there's a line that shouldn't be crossed, and apparently he did," the father said.
He applied lotion to the girl's legs and massaged her hamstring area as she lay on her stomach, the affidavit says. The girl told police that Brown's hands went under her shorts, under her underwear and he rubbed her genital area for about 10 minutes. She was scared and didn't know what to do, the affidavit says.
