Jack the Ripper used to be my prime interest, but now I don't have one. With JtR, it was the puzzle.

Personally, I like Aileen Wuornos the best. I took socialogy in high school and the teacher went through and talked about quite a few killers, like the BTK killer. She is what got me interested in serial killers. Now im reading this great book called the killer book of true crimes. its a great read =]

I think the life of Aileen Wuornos was pretty interesting also. Watching her youtube videos show a very dillusional person. However, I think my favorite serial killer for the moment is Richard Ramirez, the night stalker!

Dennis Radar. It just boggles my mind that this man eluded capture for so many years and was eventually brought down by.... Microsoft Word*. Go Bill Gates!
* I should mention I also have the biggest respect for the law enforcement officials who spent years searching for him and finally brought him in.

I just watched a Deranged episode on the ID channel about Gary Ridgeway, The Green River Killer. He was by far the worst serial killer I've ever heard of. They believe he has killed more people than anyone else! He preyed on prostitutes in Seattle from 1982 until they caught him in 2002.........They think he killed over 70 girls.

Herbert Mullin, Richard Trenton Chase and other seriously ill people. It's the scope of their delusions that intrigue me.
Gary Ridgeway -- I feel off the sofa when I caught a headline on the telly announcing the arrest of a man suspected in 48 strangulation murders. I gasped, "It has to be Green River!!! OMFG"
Dennis Rader -- I read about him in one of the Douglas books where he used another moniker than BTK. And when he surfaced again it was just too good to be true. I've read Beatties book + one called Unholy Messenger which wasn't so interesting. The third book that was simply called Bind Torture Kill is one of the best crime books I've ever read.
Ted Bundy -- Got to know him from Readers Digest in november 1982 and has been reading most of what's been written about him since then. Seen a lot of the movies but consider the portrayal in The Riverman to be the best.
Carl Panzram -- The account of his life, that he wrote in prison and gave to Henry Lesser for publication, really is something else. His absolute recollection of details about his past + crimes is quite stunning.
The worst 1 must be Harold Shipman; the BAD doctor. 286+ or 316+ murders spanning several decades.

Well, I don't know if she qualifies or not but Lizzie Borden.
Also, Bundy, Albert Fish, Aileen Wournos <sp?>, and several others.

Definitely Ted Bundy. We have so many preconceptions about the typical serial killer. He was highly intelligent and attractive. Therefore, most of his potential victims showed no fear initially.

Actually, Bundy was around 140 IQ and if he was pressed hard enough he'd stammer. His victims showed no fear initially because he used a harmless appearance or that of authority.

The most tragic thing about this story is that another man was executed for this before Chkatilo's arrest.
He may have done other things, but he didn't do this.
I work at one of the hospitals where Michael Swango victimized people, although he is not believed to have killed anyone here. Everyone who worked there at the time has a story about him.
Herbert Baumeister is quite interesting because he is believed to have killed at least 50 people in Indiana and Ohio over a period of years leading up to his suicide in 1996. When A&E did the show on him about 10 years ago, eight bodies had been found on his sprawling country estate, but when TruTV did an "Investigators" show on him last year, the number had increased to 11. His wife claims she knew nothing, and his family also claims they didn't know he was gay although he was really flaming. He had done some time in a mental institution; guess love must really be blind, huh?

I would have to say The Ken and Barbie Murders are to me the most interesting. For one person to be sick in the head is enough. But when you can talk someone else into drugging their own sister, participate in her rape, and cover up her murder to me is beyond belief.
Albert Fish was a sick SOB as well. There is an awesome documentary I saw on him a couple of weeks ago that really dug inside his mind. The letter he sent to the parents of the little girl he kidnapped, murdered, then ate was probably the most disturbing thing I have ever read in my life.

Never heard of this one, but it is worth checking it out. The one that always grossed me out, was John Wayne Gaycey. (sp?) Now that was one messed up dude.

I saw that documentary too! I watched it twice because it just baffled my mind that someone could be so cruel. It's bad enough what he did to that girl but then to send her parents that letter was beyond cruel.

I have always been intrigued by the story of Billy the Kid. I really got into the Young Guns movies, especially when it came out after Young Guns II came out, that an old fart in the 50's claimed he was Billy the Kid. They even had it on "Believe it or Not" saying in real life, Billy the kid and Pat Garret were indeed pals until the end. By the way, drumbum, your last avatar of CSI's William Petersen played an EXCELLENT Pat Garret. I am a Bon Jovi junkie, and the link below will take you into a Young Guns flash back. It's pretty awesome.

For me it was Jesse James. *lol* Ever since I was a little girl I've been fasinated with him and watch every JJ movie or documentary I can find. (Just watched a movie last night on JJ) I think that's why when I grew up, I was attracted to the rugged, strong "bad boy" types. (And now I'm married to someone that isn't even come close to that type so go figure.)

Haha, that's awesome. I liked the story of Doc Holladay, too. I'm attracted to the more clean cut, bad boy type. So, having Emillio Estevez playing Billy the Kid was awesome.

I totally forgot about that song Cher did about Jesse James!!! I love that song!!!! It was cool to see where Jesse James really lived. He seemed to do pretty good in those times. Where is this house, and his grave?...Would make for a fun trip sometime.
You know Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid? Leroy Parker, who was "Butch," is buried in southern Utah. Hiram Bebee, who was the "Sundance Kid," is buried here in the Salt Lake Cemetery, close to where I live. I like going there (mainly to have a safe place to walk my cat), but also for all of the history that is there. Awesome!!!

Mount Olivet Cemetery Kearney Clay County Missouri is where he is buried and I believe the house might be in MO also.

Have never heard of Albert Fish. Havta check it out. Have you seen that movie where Charlize Theron plays Aileen Wurnos? I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it (can't find anyone who wants to watch it with me, and I won't watch it alone). but from the pictures I have seen, man, they really uglied her down to make her look JUST like Aileen.
The thing that continually amazes me about this Crime Message board, is there seems to be never ending supply of mass murders and their stories (some of which I have NEVER heard of before). What a SICK world we live in. It is up to us to help make it better.

What is the book titled? Whenever I go int Banes and Noble. I will flip through the books they have, on
the "Most Evil Mobsters," "Most Evil Serial Killers," "Most Evil Women in History," etc. I get unnerved after reading a few stories, and then I havta go into the comics area, or the religious area and read something uplifting. I know I am wierd, but I just don't like the type of feeling, or spirit, that is left lingering in my mind, and around me after reading gory, scary stuff.

I'd say.
This is probably the one and only time that I cringed when I saw Charlize Theron naked.
