Katey's new sweetie, Angelo! He's a really good guy!!!

Unfortunately, he's been deplyed to Afghanistan...missed her Military Ball, missed her Prom and he'll miss her graduation...and won't be back till next July or August...just in time for her to be going back to her 2nd year in college.

She's REALLY depressed and she's worried SICK about him.









Angelo's job specifics are to drive, load, and fire a TANK!!!! Nice TOYS...NOT!!!!

And the Prom...she went and wasn't happy to be without her boyfriend. I don't blame her, but she could have SMILED in a few pictures, and TAKEN more pictures...

So-for the prom, I made all 3 garters, and the shawls for both of the girls...AND I DO NOT SEW. Not that I CAN'T-I just lack the patience. Needless to say, it was very interesting, and at times, VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

And Tuesday, Katey goes to register for college.

It's all happening WAY, TOO FAST!!!!

So between all the Senior year stuff, and regular life, plus being crime news investigator over at Sycamore, I think you can understand why I haven't been around much.

But that WILL change.

Oh Samantha, Katey is JUST beautiful. She looks just like her mom. How very proud you must be. Thank you SO much for sharing her memories with us. It sure brought back memories of my girls' balls and proms. Katey's gowns are lovely, and those shawls and garters are awesome! Please tell Angelo he will be in our prayers. Our youngest son returned from Iraq 18-months ago.

Our oldest grandson is going into his junior year in HS. They are beginning the scholarship application process this summer.

She's my sweetie!

I always wanted a living "Barbie doll' girl, with all the big poofy gowns, but Katey just isn't into all the ruffles and lace...but she does have the shape for the slinky stuff, so I managed to talk her into getting that type of gown.

This is from her First Communion, and it's the closest I've ever gotten her to the "Barbie doll" look...unfortunately, this is the last wallet sized pic I have, and it's a bit messed up...But I still have the framed pics, too. It's hard to believe it was 9 years ago...



And she said she wants to be married IN BLACK!!!! NO WAY! I think I need to find a good de-programmer to get her out of the morbid GOTH mood...

She didn't even want to go to the prom, but Angelo managed to talk her into it. He said that he didn't want her to miss so many important things in her life, just because he's overseas...and he said that he wanted her to go, enjoy herself, and send him lots of pictures. He said "I'm over here doing MY job, and YOUR job is to be a high-school senior and have fun and graduate." That's pretty unusual for an hispanic guy. Most of the hispanic males are usually of the opinion that if they aren't there, the girl CAN'T go without him. And that would have gone over like a lead balloon with me... He's really a special kid. The garter we made up for him has a heart that says "Here in my heart"...and Katey's name and the date, so that he knows he was there in spirit, even though he was thousands of miles away.

And after having her wisdom teeth removed, the month before, she didn't really feel like having make-up on, but I gave her a gentle one-over...

She looked like someone beat the Hell out of a chipmunk. These were taken 24 hours after surgery-before the swelling and bruising REALLY set in...





Actually Katey is the SPITTING IMAGE of her dad, from his olive complexion (They tan in the sun-I FRY!) and green eyes, right down to his habits and personality-odd things like how he held his silverware and how he would surgically remove EVERY tiny speck of fat from his meat. It's strange that in the 2 years before he walked out, she managed to pick up on so much.

Her dad between 18 and 20-it was taken from the county ID card that we used as proof of age so we could by alcohol. He's crap if he know I had it-especially after all these years...LOL



For the longest time, I felt like I had only carried her dad's clone around for 9 months, barfed for all 9 months, and didn't contribute any DNA or traits to her.

But she has a lot of my personality traits. She's an avid reader, she has my twisted sense of humor, my love of MOST kinds of music, she ADORES animals of every species and is very much a budding animal activist...so many little things we share in common.

Tuesday she registers for her Crime Scene Investigation classes.

Hi Samanthajane! Just wanted to thank you for sharing the pictures with us...Katey is a lovely young woman and she has herself a handsome young man doing a job for which I am very thankful...I wish them both the very best! And you, too, of course...
