The saga of Rene Perez !

Bubaris - Perez saga 02/09/08
The saga of Rene Perez.

Kohl’s Department Store in Bedford for making a disturbance, *( Probably shop lifting again ). He was taken to the next Town, Mount Kisco, by Bedford police and left there in Town at his request. He made his way to a coin operated Laundromat south of Town and made a 911 call to Mount Kisco police who responded. They couldn’t understand him and the Hispanic customers would not interpret but it was thought that he wanted to go to the hospital. The police declined and left saying it was not a police matter.

Hospital records were obtained that showed Perez made 63 *( sixty three ) visits to the emergency room in about 2 years. At 11:00 PM the Laundromat closed. Perez was seen there by two eye witnesses. About 11:38 PM he was found about 4 miles from Mount Kisco on the road by the caterers who were driving two vehicles, a van and a small Toyota car. It is within the realm of possibility that they may have clipped Perez, on that dark narrow road, with their vehicles rear view mirror and caused the bruises which were found on his abdomen. Perez could have been injured previously.

Lawyer: Rene Perez Asked Accused Cop for a Ride
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A homeless immigrant found dying by a deserted road had asked a police officer to take him there because he was trying to avoid a man he had menaced a few days before, the officer's lawyer told a newspaper.
Mount Kisco Police Officer George Bubaris has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges in the April 2007 death of Rene Perez, who was from Guatemala. The case has raised questions about police treatment of immigrants in suburbs north of New York City.
The 42-year-old Perez had a history making drunken 911 calls, and he'd had a series of contacts with police in Mount Kisco and neighboring Bedford on the night he died. Bedford police had taken him into Mount Kisco; hours later, prosecutors say, Bubaris drove Perez back to Bedford, dealt him a deadly blow to the abdomen and abandoned him to die.

Court records have shown that Bubaris told fellow officers he sought Perez out and took him to the area in Bedford where Perez was found unconscious later on April 28.
Bubaris' lawyer, Edward Hayes, has said his client never hit Perez. The attorney told The Journal News Friday that Perez, afraid to spend the night in Mount Kisco's downtown, asked the officer for a ride. Perez had chased another man with a knife in Mount Kisco a few days before, Hayes said.
"If he's going to sleep in town and the guy he's chasing finds him, he's probably going to beat his (Perez') brains out. So, of course, he doesn't want to sleep in town," Hayes said.
Telephones rang unanswered early Saturday at the Westchester County District Attorney's office, which is prosecuting Bubaris, 31.
Perez' family has maintained in lawsuits that Mount Kisco and Bedford made a practice of "dumping" their undesirables on each other.
Bedford police officers were taped joking about Perez' condition as he was dying. The president of the advocacy group Hispanics Across America called Friday for the suspension of the officers involved in the taped exchanges, first revealed Thursday by WCBS-TV.

1010 WINS AUDIO: Al Jones Reports
Bedford Police Chief Chris Menzel told the television station the town's officers were "not callous or indifferent."

On Thursday March 6th, 2008 Bubaris will have another hearing at the White Plains court house when his trial date will be set. This may be shaping up to be another Ramos and Compean and a Gilmer Hernandez. During all of the years that Perez was making mischief in those towns no pubic official ever contacted ICE. There were some do-gooder efforts to rehabilitate him and dry him out but they failed. He could have been deported for moral turpitude but he wasn’t. Now his younger brother, Anivil, has a lawyer and is suing George Bubaris. Bubaris hasn’t even gone to trial yet. Anivil is almost certainly also an illegal alien. Bubaris and the Town of Mount Kisco could be liable for untold hundreds of thousands of dollars if found guilty.
Rene Perez’s criminal records and hospital emergency room visits are the most extreme and egregious that I have ever heard of. The public officials who would do nothing allowed this wound to fester for years. Perez apparently stole uncountable amounts of goods and ran up unknown amounts of tens, hundreds of thousands of dollars of hospital bills. And the citizens, shop keepers, hospital were all virtually held hostage while Perez ran amok stealing, pillaging, freeloading.
Rene Perez may not be finished with Mount Kisco yet. It is possible that he left the legacy of his brother Anivil who conceivable could reap even bigger amounts if the law suit prevails.
