NH joins Vermont, New Jersey and CT in the civil unions for gays and lesbians!

As we go into another year, another milestone has opened up for gays and lesbians in NH. Today on a local paper, Union Leader.com, there was mixed emotions about this. Most people were the live and let live such as myself ,and yet, others were bigoted jerks who think it is disgusting, one guy went so far as to say how would he explain two men kissing in front of his children and my comment was "I have said this to my godkids, being from VT, who was the first state to enact this, that people love different and one should not judge someone for who they are or what they are" They accepted this explanation and never said another word about it and some of them have friends whose parents are gay and it is an accepted lifestyle in VT and I was so hoping NH would be more accepting, but they proved me wrong. One woman, what a tool, was complaining about how she probably had to shell out tax dollars for some of the couples that joined at midnight, roughly 30 people were united at the Statehouse in Concord and many other couples were united at various parts of the state. Personally I don't worry too much about sexual orientation unless you are a pedophile, then you hear me roar! For years, gays and lesbians had to hide in the closet and the ones that dared to tread were vilified by even their own families and my roommate about 20 years or so ago was gay. He never, ever told his parents, and often we would go visit them and I was the "beard" so to speak, they thought I was his girlfriend and they knew we lived together and his Mom used to ride us about making it legal, if only she knew! They both passed away without ever knowing their son was as gay as a picnic basket. They were deeply Catholic, (Yeah there is another can of worms in itself) He never came out at his job either because his boss was a jerk-off to the max, hated gays and women and about 7 years ago he and his partner of about 15 years were married and are raising a boy they adopted who was born with HIV. They are excellent parents, they provide well for Jacob and they ARE A FAMILY. Maybe not the traditional, but what in hell today is??? For years they had to pretend for fear of reprisal, they lived in fear of their lives sometimes, and rejection by everyone they knew. Allan was so afraid people would find out and none of my straight friends cared because they liked him, they partied with him, he played softball on a team, he just happened to like men sexually. He had been married briefly after coming back from tours of Vietnam, realized it was not for him and basically lived a lie till the day he met me. He was the best roommate I ever had. He was clean, neat, loved cats like I do, was kind to everyone, would give the shirt off his back to anyone, and is just a really nice guy. His husband is also a neat person. He is a advocate for gay and lesbians, was a state rep for awhile, and now he is a daddy like Allan. Allan is still waiting tables, he loves it, and now that he can be himself, he is a popular guy with the ladies, they all want to have lunch with him and go to the spas together for manicures and gossip! How times have changed, they now can be themselves, fall in love, get married and have children if they wish, isn't this what every person wants and needs? With so much ugliness in the world, this country waiting for the other shoe to drop with a terrorist attack again, people murdering their family members, Cho opening fire at people, killing 32 and injuring many others, the least I worry about is people's love lives. I posted openly and congratulated every couple on their unions and unlike traditional nuptials, nowadays, people don't stay married long like they used to, kids get caught in the crossfire of the spats between their folks, custody battles, money problems, cheating on their spouses, why bother to get hitched? I firmly believe that couples that live together should be entitled to their spouses benefits as well. My sister has lived with her man for 20 years. They have no intention of getting married, they have been there and they like their life the way it is. SO as we go into another year, let's remember that everyone is God's child, and he does not cast out these folks for who they are no matter what the Catholics tell ya, they should be the first one to cast a stone at every one of their pedophile priests!

Really?

Well, normally I would let a post such as yours go, but I do get tired of all the bleeding heart well doers pointing tothe christian community when they don't agree with something. Not all Christains are Catholic's as you seem to indicate with your priest reference and "no matter what the Catholics tell ya" statement. I don't care how people live their lives, but if they chose to live in a way contrary to nature, so be it, but not on my dime. No matter what you say it is an unatural lifestile. I hope no other state falls for the bleeding hearts and allow them to marry in their states. Well that is it for my rant, now for a few facts;

You said "let's remember that everyone is God's child, and he does not cast out these folks for who they are". This can be found in the Bible (ALL Bibles, not just Catholic on).

Levitucus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
