My daughter Katey is MISSING!

She never came home from school today. Needless to say, I'm FREAKING!!!!

The last time she was seen, her girl-friends saw her walking away from her school with her ex-boyfriend-at 2:30 pm. The guy is a boozing drug-using, drop-out piece of cr@p, and I'm not sure what he might do to her. I don't know where he lives, because he and his family just recently moved.

I put in a report with the police, because this is VERY unusual behavior for Katey. She's NEVER taken off before, and the problem is that she's 18, but looks 15, and she's VERY tiny and petite. 5 feet tall and 108 pounds.

Any pedophile would think she was much younger...

We haven't had any problems at all-we went out for chinese food last night, and sat laughing and joking like fools...so if there is a problem, it's news to me...

PLEASE PRAY FOR HER SAVE RETURN.

Unfortunately, her cellphone was turned off, and she soen't have it with her. She blew through all her minutes texting and yakking with friends...I can only afford Net10, and she didn't save any of her money to get a new card.

Seashell & Shadowscy-thanks so much for all the prayers-I'm sure God's keeping an eye on her.

I'm keeping a vigil on her AIM account, and I have my cell right next to me in case she calls.

All her friends are keeping tabs or looking for her, too. And they're watching their myspace accounts and AIM for any activity from her or her ex.

The police said that if she isn't home or hasn't called by morning, tocome in and file a report. Meanwhile, they've put her info out to all officers, just in case they see her or happen to stop a car with her in it.

Unfortunately, at 18, they can't FORCE her to come home. I'm really worried that the ex has laid a line of BS on her, and convinced her to move in with him or take off with him.

He's a total piece of cr#p... a high-school drop-out, drinks, uses drugs, and could care less that Katey has been accepted into a very good private college.

She even caught him messing around with other girls before he dropped out, and it doesn't seem to sink in...

He makes me sick.

I just don't get WHY she'd done this...

Sometimes teens don't realize (even at 18) especially since she does not have her cell phone with her how much you worry when they do not come home. Perhaps she wound up spending the night with her ex and could not phone you. I have an 18 year old son and 21 year old daughter who just sometimes "forgot" to phone home or fall asleep at their friend's house. They have both gotten better now that they know how much I worry when I don't know they are safe and will at least call me to let me know the last place they are in case they do fall asleep. They also both have told me; we did not want to wake you but I let them both know you wouldn't wake me because I can't sleep not knowing if you are safe or not.

Hopefully that is just it and she will be home soon.

Okay...here's the scoop.

Last night, after talking to the police and going nuts, I got on-line and started watching our AIM account-to see if she logged in, or to see if any of her friends were on, to spread the word and get any leads they might have. I talked to a few of her friends-who'd seen her leave school with the exboyfriend-AKA SCUMBAG-but they didn't know where he'd moved to. Her friends said they'd watch their MySpace accounts for any activity from her, but they'd had nothing so far.

But I had SOMETHING to start with...and MANY hours of watching the investigative shows on Court-TV and reading the CrimeLibrary posts and message boards.

I was ready to start MY investigation-thanks to this wonderful site.

This morning I went to her school to see if she showed up there, and to let the school know she was missing. They were horrified to hear that Katey was missing-she's very much loved by the students and the staff. The school took all my info, and said that if she turned up, they'd call me, but she hadn't reported by the time the attendance sheets got to the office.

I ran into a TON of her friends in the hall, and a certain kid volunteered to show me where SCUMBAG had moved to. Everyone who knows Scumbag HATES HIM!! And his whole family. Besides boozing and doing drugs, some of the kids from Kate's school think he was responsible for breaking into their houses...but don't have any proof.

I went over to the house, and you know how some people just give you that "I'm lying through my teeth" aura??? Well-that's what I got from Scumbag. I decided to let him hang himself with his own lies.

He acted all calm and cool when I told him Katey was missing-concerned, but not overly upset. First he made the mistake of saying he hadn't even talk to her in quite a while, which I already knew was BS. I told him he was seen leaving the school with her, and suddenly he remembered walking her PART WAY HOME. He said he had to go to work, but he'd start checking around for her when he got home...RED FLAG-he was going to work but he'd help look for her in a FEW HOURS??? HE KNEW
SOMETHING. And he supposedly LOVES HER??

I let that drop, and told him basically to back off.

I went to the police station to put in a full missing persons report. The first ting I told the officer is that I had some info, but Scumbag was acting flaky and changing his story. They took his address.

When I got home, as soon as I made it through the barking dogs, the phone rings. It was Katey. Basically-"Mom-I'm okay. I lost my bus pass, and I was trying to find a "shorter way home" and I got lost..." The BS METER went PING, but I said-"Okay-we'll talk when you get home".

Okay-I'd let her hang herself, too.

When she walked in the house at noon (they had a half day today) she wouldn't say where she'd spent the night. I told her that she'd been seen leaving school, but I didn't say with whom, so I told her I knew it was one of two guys. (there's another guy she's interested in, and he couldn't be counted out if Scumbag really did walk her PART WAY HOME.)

I also told her I knew Scumbag was BS-ing me. She wouldn't even look at my face. I showed her the missing persons report, and she couldn't even speak...

She finally admitted that she'd been there the whole time. I reamed her out for upsetting so many people, and I had her read the posts here, and on the message board at Ciliatus.com-a forum about geckos (I'm a member of their forum, too), and I told her "Look how many people-who don't even know you-care about you and have prayed for you to come home safely." I told her how much her friends and school personel were upset, and how none of them could believe that KATEY-of all people-was missing. Everyone wanted to help.

She went in to shower, and there were faint bruises on her shoulder, leg, and back. It was't the kind of bruising from an attack, just "rough" treatment. I told her LOVE DOESN'T LEAVE MARKS AND LOVE DOESN'T HURT. I told her that I hope her had the minimum intelligence to use a condom, and she said he did. She's on the progesterone-only pill, because she has severe migraines, but she'd missed yesterday's dose...at least the brain-trust used a condom...I pray she's not lying about that. With his reputation for cheating, I'd be terrified of what she could have picked up from him.

Needless to say, I'm just glad she's home and safe.

As much as I love my kids, I've always said that there's a reason why some species of animals eat their own young...it's called ADOLESCENCE.

If I ever see a mark on her again, I'm taking her to the ER to have the marks documented and a rape-kit done, and I'll make her press charges on him. Sex shouldn't be forced or coersed.

In conclusion, I want to thank EVERYONE for their prayers, kind words, and support. Katey thanks you all, too, and is sorry she had everyone so worried.

You are NOT just our friends, you're FAMILY!!!

they say giving birth is painful, i find bringing up our kids more painful and a lifetime worry spcially in these times.
Hopefully when she is a mature woman with her own kids she will come to realise what you have been through you and thank you for looking after her.

I had a few scumbags, too. I married one of mine-at 18. After 2 years of dating and treating me like a queen, he started beating the **** out of me two weeks after we got married. I also learned on our one month anniverary that I was pregnant -with Katey's older sister. He wanted me to have an abortion because he said he "wasn't ready" to be a father. When I refused, he told me that all the reponsibility for the baby was mine. After 6 years of beatings and wearing long-sleeved turtlenecks year 'round, and having him drain my bank account, I left him.

My older daughter, Jenny, hasn't spoken to me, Katey or the rest of my family for over 3 years. Daddy is on a pedestal. She's gotten married in the meantime, and "adopted" my best friend as her new mom-right down to having her stand in my stead at her wedding. Needless to say, my best friend isn't my friend any more...Jenny's left a very wide swath of destruction in her path over the years. Most have involved my relationships and amy friends.

I just don't bother trying to make friends anymore...it's not worth it.

It ain't easy...and there are days when I understand the reasons why some species of animals eat their young.

One of the reasons is called "adolescence"...just kidding.

I love BOTH of my girls with all my heart...I just wish they'd take it easy on me once in a while.

Katey is in her senior year of high-school. In Buffalo, NY. She was held back in 6th grade by a teacher who didn't want to believe that she has a learning disability.

This is NOT a control issue.

Had she called and saod she was going to a friend's house-even without telling me it was Scum-Bag-I wouldn't have FREAKED!

I have VERY FEW rules here. One is to RESPECT OTHERS FEELINGS. Another is to let me know where she'll be, how to get in touch in an emergency-my mom and grand-father (in a nursing home) are elderly, and if something should happen, I need a way to get a hold of her. And she has to let me know when she'll be home and if I need to pick her up, because she doesn't drive. And another is to be at school on school days. Which she blew off...

As an ADULT, she has to realize that SHE is responsible for her actions and how they effect others.

Part of the "adult" thing is the fact that even though she's 19 now, with her weight and her looks, she appears to be MUCH younger than her age. Add that to the fact that there are SEVERAL KNOWN PEDOPHILES living between our house and her school, and it doesn't present a pretty picture.

Even the police officer who responded to my call said that because of her appearance, he would put out a bulletin-not a Amber Alert-because of the fact that a pedophile could perceive her to be MUCH YOUNGER than her actual 18 years -at the time-which put her in a dangerous position.

Do you actually think a pervert is going to stop and ask her AGE before possbily grabbing her? I think NOT.

And even if he did...do you think he would BELIEVE her if she said she was over 18??? NOT!!! And that was one of my BIGGEST FEARS!

Another problem is that Katey suffers from SEVERE DEPRESSION at times. I was VERY concerned that something might have happened.

And when I saw the condition she came home in, I REALLY FREAKED!!! Knowing who she was with, and her coming home looking like that, I KNEW they weren't playing rummy or having a prayer meeting.

And when she left in the morning, everything between us ws FINE! We didn't have any arguement or anything, which meant that she had no reason to "run away".

This just ADDED to my concerns. She had no reason for NOT coming home.

Thank God everything resolved itself.

She starts college in the fall, studying Crime Scene Investigation. She'll still be living at home because the dorm fees are INSANE!
