12 year old girl beaten and burned to death
This is my first time posting here I have read many stories around here but didn't see this one.
Another horror story for a kid
More information is coming out in the death last week of a 12-year-old Phoenix girl who was beaten and scalded then left dead in her bedroom for four days.
According to court records released today, the child’s stepmother, Reiko Troupe, 25, forced Trenay Duchane, into a bathtub on Nov. 6 then filled it with scalding water. This, because the girl didn’t clean her room. Her 9 year-old sister told police she heard Trenay screaming as she scrambled to escape the scalding water. Troupe then began beating the girl with an extension cord and punching her in the face until she passed out, her little sister said.
Meanwhile, dear old dad comes home, finds his daughter dead or dying and does, well, nothing. “He said he and his wife left the apartment to borrow money for the electric card,” police wrote.
It took four days before Jeffrey Duchane, 34, would call 911. This, because his daughter’s body was beginning to smell.
Police on Saturday found Trenay dead and her sister, Treshae, cowering in a shower stall, nursing bruises, burns and oh yes, a broken arm.

Oh my God! This has to be one of the most disturbing stories I've ever heard. I Googled Reiko Troupe's name and came up with this link: Reiko Troupe News. There are a lot of news articles about the story there.

What a sad an horrible story. I kept thinking of poor Sylvia Likens.
I hope the girl's sister who tried to help can recover and finds a loving home.

I am currently obtaining my CJ degree and we are in close contact with Phoenix PD. They are calling this the worst crime scene they seen. I have been to the crime lab many times and seen the "book" with all of the photos of other crime scenes in it and it is hard to imagine what this must have been like.

God, how horrible.
I'm sitting here trying to understand how a mother could do something like this to her child. I can't see how it only had to do with the girl not cleaning her room. No, it was because she was an abusive, sick person. And the fact that police found her sister cowering in a shower stall; nursing a broken arm, burns, and bruises shows that these 2 young girls had been abused before by this "mother".
And then "Daddy" comes home, and instead of him being a normal person; he aids "Mommy" in the continuance of the crime.
I'm not a violent person, but people like this need to hurt like they hurt their victim or victims. It isn't enough to sentence them and stick them in prison; they need to have physical pain inflicted on them.

I agree.
I agree. It seems to be getting worse. It seems that some people have kids for the sole reason of abusing them! It is so easy to get a drivers license, vote etc but any moron can have a kid. Maybe potential parents should be psych tested ??

children who die at the hands of a parent
It makes me sick too see a child abuse or killed by the hands of anyone. A lady who runs a shop close too where I live is collecting money too send too the 9 year old. If I would be allowed I would open my home too that child. She deserves a good home where someone would take care of her. I was always taught this, you harm a child and you know what will happen too you when the Man upstairs gets hold of you.

My God. Why??? Because of a dirty room!?
Poor baby, and her poor poor sister has to endure a lifetime of remembering how she was killed and the suffering they both had to live through.
Rest in Peace Reiko.

So sad
Sometimes I really have to limit myself on reading too much here, because it's truly depressing. This is just another horrific story that makes me want to cry.
Mama Mari, your signature line is so true! Being a sperm donor or a womb doesn't make someone a parent. A parent is someone who provides a safe environment, discipline (not abuse), and most of all, love and support.
I really believe that after my youngest is grown, I'm going to HAVE to become a foster parent, so that I can be of some help to children like these. I have been thinking about it for years, but I think I have an obligation to my own children first to keep them safe, and I'm afraid that sexually and physically abused kids might victimize my own children.
My heart goes out to Treshae , and I can only hope and pray that they have placed her in a loving foster home where she can get some help for the many issues she will surely face for many years.
Rest in peace, Trenay in the arms of your heavenly Father who would never harm you....
Rot in hell, Reiko Troupe and Jeffrey Duchane
Jesus said that those who would harm a child would be better off to have a millstone hung around their necks and thrown into the sea....
I hope your punishment's a helluva lot more painful than that!

I know what you mean about having to take a day off. The other day I logged onto the net and when my homepage opened the headlines were about the arrest of Riley Sawyer aka Baby Grace's mother and stepfather. I just shut the computer down and read one of my nieces Little House on the Prairie books. I needed to remember the innocense that children once had.
God love the little sister that ended up with a broken arm and in the hospital for trying to help her sister.
Now the stepmother and father are pointing their fingers at each other. I hope they both get death.
I just filled out a questionaire asking if I believe in angels and demons. I said absolutely. These are a couple of those demons I was thinking of.

Wow. This is horrible. What did the girl do to deserve this? The parents might not be responsible, but they didnt want justice? They waited to call the cops? Horrible.

PHOENIX -- Phoenix father Jeffrey Duchane pleaded guilty to the murder of his 12-year-old daughter and to the beating of her 9-year-old sister.
“I've been praying for this day," said Virginia Gray, the girls’ grandmother. “I was like, 'How could you do that to your daughters? Your babies?'"
“I’m glad he pleaded guilty. I'm glad he finally realized he let something horrible happen to his daughter," said Kenisha Gray, the girls’ mother.
Investigators said Duchane's wife Reiko Troupe beat Trenay Duchane, 12, and forced her into a scalding-hot bathtub because she didn't do her homework. Police reported finding her younger sister hiding in the shower with burns, bruises and a broken arm
Duchane not only failed to protect his girls -- records show he admitted waiting days to call 911, even though he knew his eldest daughter was dead.
"I miss her a lot. I miss her so much. When she passed away, a piece of my heart was gone," said Kenisha Gray.
"He was their father. It makes it worse because he was their father and he should have protected
them," said Virginia Gray.
Duchane is set to be sentenced in July.
Troupe is already serving a life sentence

On March 13, 2009 Troupe plead guilty and was sentenced to natural life in prison for the beating death of Trenay Duchane and the abuse of the victim’s nine-year-old sister. The sentence guarantees that the defendant will never set foot outside of prison.

Dear Lord.
I don't know what to say.
My heart hurts for both of these kids and what they endured until Trenay died.

PHOENIX -- Phoenix police called it one of the worst cases of child abuse they'd ever seen -- a Valley father beat his 12-year-old daughter to death.
Jeffrey Duchane, who confessed to the crime, learned Friday he will spend the rest of his life in prison.
According to investigators, Jeffrey Duchane repeatedly punched his daughter in the face, scalded her with hot water, whipped her with an electrical cord and left her dead in their apartment for days.
Duchane appeared in Superior Court in downtown Phoenix where he stood before a judge and apologized for what he did
He was then sentenced to life in prison for killing his daughter.
Duchane was also given an additional seven years for beating his 9-year-old daughter.
"I love my kids with all my heart and would do anything for them. I never meant for any of this to happen," Duchane told the judge. "If I could do this all over again I would do it in a heartbeat, so I could have my daughter Trenay back."
The 12-year-old girl was killed back in November of 2007, inside a Phoenix apartment.
Police said her father waited four days to call 911, even though he knew his daughter was dead inside the apartment
The child's step mother Reiko Troupe was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year
