Nancy Ludwig
Does anyone have any information about the 1991 murder of Northwest Airlines flight attendant Nancy Ludwig in Romulus, Michigan? I watched the "Forensic Files" episode about it but can anyone tell me which hotel that it occurred? I've read that it was the Hilton Airport Inn at that time but is it still a Hilton or has it been renamed and where is it located?

Blood Justice
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
In 1991, flight attendant Nancy Ludwig checked in to an airport hotel near Detroit. The next morning she was found gagged, raped, and tortured-her throat slit with such rage that she was nearly decapitated. Her husband Arthur never gave up hope that the future would bring enough evidence to close the case. But it was the past that held the clue.In 1985, fifty-five-year old Margarette Eby, a music professor, met the same grisly death at her cottage in Flint, Michigan. The case went cold-until six years later when the victim's son Mark came upon the story of Nancy Ludwig's slaying. With nothing to go on but intuition, he called authorities, certain that the same fiend committed both crimes.A cunning sting operation yielded irrefutable DNA evidence, and authorities were led to the home of respected navy veteran Jeffrey Gorton living quietly with his wife and two children. But his cold-blooded secrets were only beginning to come to light leaving fears that there were more victims yet to be found in a killing spree that had finally come to an end.

She was murdered in the Detroit Hilton Inn. I believe it is now called the Doubletree. I worked for Continental Airlines at the time and stayed there right after her murder. I went back 11 years later and the driver said it is now the doubletree

I rememeber this so well and I know that area so well. It was such a sad and brutal crime. And they had no suspects for so long it seems.

Thanks Sara...I was looking up information on her murder. It has always haunted me. I stayed at the hilton inn with the rest of my crew 3 days after she was murdered in 1991. A man that looked like Mr. Gorton knocked on my hotel room door and when I when I asked who it was he wouldn't answer. He put his eye right up to the peephole so his eye was right next to mine with the door b/w us. The police came to my room and I gave them my information but they never called. I am so grateful they finally found him.

Oh aly I am so sorry. That must have been pretty spooky. I have never had that happen to me but it would make me feel pretty uncomfortable.

Sara, not too much more than I already knew. Sometimes these criminals get out on parole, but he hasn't. I really wanted to find out if he was linked to any more murders. I believe in my heart that he has, they just haven't connected the dots yet. I wish there was internet back in 1991 when it happened. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow...

I googled her name and found out there was another murder by him in Flint. I believe fingerprints matched it up even though the murders were years apart. There is a book called Murders in Michigan by Tom Henderson about both. Also before both murders he was arrested in Florida for assault. I do not have a lot more detail but I bet the book is good.

I read further and I stand corrected. He was caught by the same DNA at both places and then fingerprints later. Authorities also thought he may have been guilty of more murders but so far have not been able to prove it
And I also read he had boxes and suitcases full of women's lingerie.

As I read further I found that he received 3 life sentences for one murder and life without parole on the other.

Thanks for the info Sara. A&E has this story; cold case #47. The story goes into the fact that he had boxes and boxes of lingerie in his attic and his wife didn't know about them. They mentioned that a lot of them were neighbors underwear that went missing. I am glad to know that he has many life sentences; I hope he never gets out.
Thank you for the welcome Evening!

Sara,
No, I left 3 years ago. I loved it so, but the industry was going through a hard time and I didn't see it changing for years. I couldn't last long with all of the cutbacks on work rules and pay. Funny though; I flew to Las Vegas today to do site inspections of hotels for seminars that my company has, and I am flying to Seattle this weekend for a friends wedding. I still love flying! How a/b you?
