Searchers Can't Find Missing 3-Year-Old

DENVER (AP) -- More than 200 volunteers searched unsuccessfully for a missing 3-year-old girl, and police indicated that she may have been killed. Bloodhounds aiding in the search picked up a scent Sunday, but it did not lead to Niveah Gallegos.

Niveah's 20-year-old mother, Miriam Gallegos, reported her missing and the possible victim of a kidnapping Friday. Police later arrested the mother on suspicion of false reporting, child abuse resulting in death, and being an accessory to a crime.
The woman's boyfriend, Angel Ray Montoya, 22, was being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Police have not released details on why they believe the girl may be dead. They have said the girl's body may have been wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped in a trash bin.
The city requested a delay in trash pickup Monday from Dumpster-size bins. "We're asking all businesses to look in their trash Monday for anything that might be different," police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

Almost. In the article excerpt someone posted it had the name spelled niveah which is heavin not heaven but maybe they could not spell or wanted it to be different or maybe they meant heavin' as n short for heaving.

The Denver Department of Human Services received a report in July 2006 that Montoya may have been sexually abusing the girl.

At that time, Denver police began investigating reports that Montoya was molesting Niveah, but the probe stalled because the girl's mother refused to cooperate, according to a police statement supporting Montoya's arrest in Niveah's Friday disappearance.

Montoya was a repeat sex offender with a prior conviction for assaulting a 4-year-old boy and failing to register as a sex offender with police.

Yet even after Montoya was accused of molesting Niveah in 2006, he continued to often live with the girl and and her mother, Miriam Gallegos, 20, in their Logan Street apartment, according to police.

It is unclear what Denver DHS did to protect the girl. . ."

I have to add that this little girl had NO chance in this world.

The legal system let her down, the councilors and children protection agencies let her down, this sick pos let her down.....and pretty much worst of all her own mother let her down both before and after the murder.

There were so many links in the chain that could have saved her.....but nothing clicked into place.....no one did the right thing or followed through or took anything seriously.

It is sad and tragic and pathetic all at the same time.....and the red flags were screaming out here.....but no one took any notice....it is so sad, and I feel so sad for this little girl, only three. What a life some kids have to live, its unbelievable!!!!

OMG the little angel has been let down and how can anyone repair this terrible cruel and tragic end to such a pure and innocent baby!!!

Here we go again. Another sex offender, another single mom giving access to her daughter. The poor child never had a chance because the mother let this slime bag into her home and life. This makes me sick!
