In 1972 a young officer in the Texas Air National Guard was transferred to Alabama. He failed to report for duty. He was never charged with being AWOL or desertion. He was later elected President of the United States. His name: George Dubya Bush.

Thanks cidawg1 for posting this. I had heard about this as well and was going to direct this thread to the very same link. I wish people would check things out before they post such garbage.
