The man accused of killing a Carter County mother and her two daughters and setting their trailer on fire back in May, says he's not guilty of the horrific crimes. Robert Drown Jr. appeared in court Thursday morning in Carter County to enter a not guilty plea. He was indicted by a grand jury a few weeks ago.
Family of 31 year old Jennifer Ison, her 10 year old daughter Shannah Ison, and her 3 year old daughter Marissa Ison also appeared in court Thursday. They sat holding each other and sobbing as the man accused of killing the three people that meant so much to them, pled not guilty to all of the charges. Many family members wore a shirt with a picture of Jennifer and her daughters on it. Sharlene Williams, the grandmother of Shannah and Marissa told Action News 36, she wore the shirt because she wanted Drown to see what he did. ...

June 20, 2007 — Robert Lee Drown, 27, of Kenova, West Virginia, was indicted on six counts by the Carter County Grand Jury on Tuesday, June 12.
1) murder by killing Jennifer Ison by strangulation
2) murder by killing Marissa Ison by strating a fire which resulted in her death
3) murder by killing Shannah Ison by infliction of blunt force trauma to her head
4) rape 1st degree by engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor less than 12 years of age
5) arson 1st degree by starting a fire with the intent to destroy the home of Jennifer Ison, when the home was occupied by Marissa Ison
6) burglary 1st degree by unlawfully entering the home of Jennifer Ison, and while there caused the deaths of Jennifer, Marissa and Shannah Ison and also committed rape 1st degree ....

May 10, 2007 — According to Kentucky State Police, the deaths of Jennifer Marie Hall Ison, 31, Shannah Marie Ison, 10, and Marissa Lauren Ison, 3, are being investigated as arson and a triple homicide, based on evidence discovered at the scene.
Carter County Coroner George Sparks has not released a positive identification on the three victims that perished in the mobile home.
According to KSP, the autopsies have been performed and a positive identification will be determined by the medical examiner's office using dental and/or medical records.
The latest report states the manners of deaths have been determined but will not be released yet due to the ongoing investigation. Troopers are currently conducting interviews with several individuals based off information received from the public. ...

Please don't get the wrong idea of my question. Not that I feel any of them deserved to be raped, but why would he rape the little girl instead of the mom? DON'T GET THE WRONG IDEA!!! I'm not saying I think or I wish the mother was raped instead, I just don't understand why a 10 year old would be more appealing than a 31 year old woman. There probably isn't even an answer. Those children were so beautiful, and the mother, i saw her myspace. She was so full of life, and she was so happy about her bypass surgery. Things seemed to be really looking up for her. They were all taken far to soon, May their family find comfort in knowing the 3 of you are together, home, with the Lord, where your safe, and no one can ever hurt you again.

Drown Denied Bond in Carter Murders

The man charged with murdering a mom and her two young children is not getting out of jail on bond.
Robert Drown who is from Kenova, WV was in Carter County, KY Circuit Court Monday morning for a bond hearing.
Drown is accused killing Jennifer Ison and her 10 and 3-year old daughters at their home in Carter County back in May.
Police say after killing the three, he set their home on fire. Investigators also say Drown raped one of the young girls.
Drown was arrested in West Virginia and extradited back to Kentucky in August.
Following testimony in Monday’s bond hearing, a judge denied Drown bond.
During that testimony, a state police trooper testified that cell phone records place Drown in the area of Ison’s house at the time of the murders and fire.
Drown returns to court on December 17th. A trial date has not been set.
If convicted, Drown could face the death penalty.

I'm at a loss for words. How awful. I agree with what one of the family members said about the death penalty. He'll get a shot and won't feel anything when he dies, unlike what he did to Jennifer, Shannah and Marissa. He deserves to feel every moment and more.
