We love Top Chef! The whole family watches it on Wednesday. I like Tre. Hung won't make it. I think they're heading toward a final with Tre and Casey. CJ is nice but maybe too nice to win. He seems a bit laid back.

Forgot to say I think Casey's boobs are fake and What's-his-name needs to stop sweating into his food.

I feel bad for the judges who are only now seeing the kitchen footage and must be thinking "Garg - I ate that stuff!"

I am totally into that show, I even watch the reruns when I get a chance to watch TV.
Howie is the sweating, loudmouth, who I can't personally stand.
My favorite is CJ. I do like Casey as well, but I totally agree that her boobs are fake. I mean, come on, she could serve tea on them, they have to be fake!
I do think that Tre and Casey will be in the finals.
Last night, no one got kicked off the show- I flippin' fell asleep during the quickfire and didn't wake up until this morning. I hit the Bravo website to see what happened and found out that nothing happened. It's apparently a 2 part episode? What happened with that? It's driving me crazy!

My family loves Top Chef and we watch it each week. (I love Bravo - they always repeat their shows)....
Doesn't anyone think Casey bears a big resemblance to Jennifer Aniston? (I think that's why they keep her)
Now that the numbers are decreasing, it's going to get harder and harder to eliminate. Last night ended in a tie breaker - I agree with the judges that it looked like both sides had done a poor job in the "restaurant war."
After calling in each of the teams and telling them what a blogger who attended the dinner in each of their restaurants had written (Andrea Something[?] - she wrote some comical/sarcastic comments), they then called in Brian and Dale. The judges (and the blogger) had big problems with Brian's frantic/flustered frontman appearance and Dale's use of the overwhelming smell of vanilla scented candles in his restaurant. Both were sweating....and then the "do-over" was announced for next week.

Last night's judge was owner of Red Robin and it was a hamburger quick fire. CJ, Howie and Hung were the favorites and CJ won his first quick fire. CJ did not get immunity, but got to choose his team for the "restaurant wars."
Additionally, here are the complaints from last night's episode:
They liked what Hung made. (something with Tempura)
Joey's mushroom risotto was overcooked/gummy (and heavy for the Miami heat)
Sara's Lambshank that followed Joey's risotto was also considered too heavy, especially served one after the other, for the Miami heat. Judges said this indicated lack of teamwork and only individual thinking.
CJ's oyster w/watermelon appetizer was deemed completely without flavor and like a "watermelon slushy."
Tre burned the fingerling potatoes.
Casey's steak w/gorgonzola reeked of charcoal flavor.

I didn't really understand the oyster problem. It sounded like the judges said they had washed the flavor out of them. Does that happen? Is the flavor on the outside and you can accidentally wash it off? Not a big oyster eater (obviously) but it sounded weird to me.

Yeah, Louisa, I thought that to be strange as well. You're right, the judges were saying they had washed the flavor out and yes, the flavor is on the inside only.
Since I'd never heard of someone washing the inside of the oyster, I assumed they meant that perhaps the stuff they put on them (the watermelon, etc.) had overpowered the oyster's flavor (that's hard to do, as oysters have a strong flavor). They called it a "watermelon slushy."

I didn't see the show but you can absolutely wash the flavor out of an oyster.
Oysters should not be rinsed in fresh water. A half decent shucker should be able to shuck the oyster without getting any broken shell into the remaining oyster shell or shucked oyster.
As soon as you rinse an oyster in fresh water a lot of the flavor is lost. If you need to rinse an oyster because of bits of leftover shell from shucking, use the clean salt water they grew in.

Not sure where you get they their oysters from but they should never have a "strong flavor". They're oysters. They have a flavor all of their own but it's not like canned anchovies, kipper or salted herring. Oysters should taste a little salty with whatever you put on them, that's about it. If they taste strong I would suggest not eating them.

I love this show!
Hello! This is my first post here, I just joined the other day, and lurked for a bit.
Top Chef has been one of my favorite shows since the first season. I'm glad that Hung won; he was definitely the most skilled chef. I liked Tre a lot too though.
This is kind of the foodie version of American Idol!

Fresh, sweetie, we put lots of love in everything at the Club Lounge! LOL I know you get hungry and need a laugh every once in awhile. Come on over we have some new male staff members but I am afraid Jeevers needs some whooping that only someone fresh like you could give him LOL. When he was created why did you not whittle that taser outta his hand? He is also a flirty ole' man, we must be very careful around him. Come on over Fresh it has been awhile since you shared coffee with us.

I don't mind Jeeves flirtin' at all; but if he acquires roamin' fingers, I will go for the taser myself! Ya hear that, Jeevers, ol man?
