Mystery over second pro-wrestler death
Dylan Welch
August 14, 2007 - 10:39AM
Another American professional wrestler has died in mysterious circumstances overnight, the World Wrestling Entertainment website is reporting.
"World Wrestling Entertainment has learned that Brian Adams, also known to our fans as Crush, has been found dead today," the website states.
One celebrity news website purports to have the incident report filed by police after the 43-year-old's death.
The alleged report, posted on tmz.com, states that Adams was found by his wife "unconscious in bed not breathing".
It goes on to state that the cause of death was unknown at the time the report was written.
"There were no visible signs of injury," it states.
The 203 centimetre tall, 143 kilogram wrestler was part of the popular Word Wrestling Federation tag team "Demolition", whose members were known for wearing face paint and studded leather during their bouts.
He retired from professional wrestling in 2003 after suffering a spinal injury during a bout.
Adams's sudden death comes less than two months after fellow WWE wrestler Chris Benoit - along with his wife and young son - was found dead in his Georgia home.
Investigators have since alleged that Benoit killed his wife and son before hanging himself on gym equipment.

How strange. I wonder if this was caused by overuse of steriods? Sad.

I'm wondering if it could have been obstructive sleep apnea.
I'm 5 foot 3 inches and 135 pounds, and I have it, and I snore like a freight train.
At one time it was assumed that only very heavy MEN developed sleep apnea, but in the past 5 to 10 years, it was discovered that ANYONE can have it.

Autopsy fails to show how wrestler died
Posted on Tue, Aug. 14, 2007
TAMPA, Fla. -- An autopsy on pro wrestler Brian "Crush" Adams failed to show a specific cause of death. The Hillsborough County medical examiner's office said Tuesday it will now conduct tissue and toxicology tests to try to determine what killed the 44-year-old wrestler.
A completed autopsy report is expected in six to eight weeks.
Adams wasn't breathing when his wife found him unconscious in their Tampa home Monday. His body showed no visible signs of injury and foul play was not suspected, police said.
Adams, a former world tag team champion, last performed for the World Wrestling Federation in 2001 and served intermittently on the roster beginning in 1990, World Wrestling Entertainment said.
In 2001, Adams left the WWE, formerly the WWF. He competed in Japan and then attempted a career in boxing, the WWE said. He wrestled his last match in January 2003 when a spinal injury forced him into retirement.
Adams' death comes less than two months after pro wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife and son before hanging himself on the cable of a weight machine in his Georgia home. Prescription anabolic steroids were found in the family's home, raising questions about whether the drugs played a role in the killings.

WRESTLE DEATH GRIP
FIRST BENIOT AND NOW 'CRUSH'
By NEIL GRAVES and ED ROBINSON
August 14, 2007 -- Tragedy has again body-slammed the world of pro wrestling, as former WWE star Brian Adams, a k a "Crush," was found dead by his wife at their Florida home yesterday.
The grappler's death comes less than two months after fellow wrestler Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son before hanging himself.
"Brian Adams was found by his wife unconscious in bed, not breathing," said Andrea Davis, a Tampa police spokeswoman.
The cause of death was unknown and police officials said they were waiting for autopsy results to launch an official investigation.
Police reports said Adams' wife called 911 at 11:30 a.m., and Davis said the fire rescue team that responded could not revive him. She added that there was no visible sign of injury and that autopsy results could take "a day or it could be several weeks."
Although police report Adam's age as 44, other sources said the 6-foot-6, 322-pound hulk was 43.
Adams rose to fame as part of an acid-punk tag team known as "Demolition," along with wrestling partners "Ax" and "Smash."
They stalked the ring dressed like hard-rock musicians with bright face paint and draped in leather. They were tag-team champions in the WWE, where Adams wrestled on and off from 1990 to 2001.
Fans knew him as the man who finished off opponents with his "Tilt-o-Whirl" move, or the feared "Double Spinebuster" with his partners.
He also perfected the "Demolition Smash," with a partner holding down an opponent in a backbreaker position while Adams came off the ropes with an elbow drop.
The Hawaiian-born Adams' life outside the ring was also wild.
He was arrested in 1995 for receiving anabolic steroids in the mail. A search of his home turned up marijuana and unregistered semiautomatic handguns, authorities said.
As his wrestling career began to sputter, Adams tried to become a boxer, but he injured his shoulder before his first bout.
He was forced to retire from wrestling in 2003 after he injured his spine in a match.
In addition to wrestling in the WWE, he also grappled in the Pacific Northwest and on the World Championship wrestling circuits.
Early in his career, he trained and wrestled in Japan, where Benoit was also starting out.
They would also be linked at the end.
In June, police said Benoit - who tested positive for synthetic testosterone, Vicodin, the tranquilizer Xanax and hydrocodone - drugged wife Nancy, then the next day smothered their 7-year-old son, Daniel, in their Fayetteville, Ga., home.

What killed "Crush" Brian Adams?
TAMPA, Fla. (AP-Staff) — An autopsy on pro wrestler Brian (Crush) Adams failed to show a specific cause of death.
The Hillsborough County medical examiner’s office said Tuesday it will now conduct tissue and toxicology tests to try to determine what killed the 44-year-old wrestler. A completed autopsy report is expected in six to eight weeks.
Adams wasn’t breathing when his wife found him unconscious in their Tampa home Monday.
He'd worked as a bodyguard for fellow ex-WWE star Randy "Macho Man" Savage.
The death, following so closely the double murder-suicide by Chris Benoit in Atlanta, has prompted more coverage than is usual for a wrestling passing. Adams' death was discussed on Nancy Grace Monday night, with Mike Brooks as the guest host.
Once again, Mark Mero was on the show. "Brian was a super guy. He was kind of a quiet guy, but he loved to play little practical jokes, but he was a good person," Mero said on the program. "And I spoke to Brian on the phone a couple weeks ago, and we talked about possibly doing a business venture together with my Body Slam Gym. And, you know, he was going to come down and see me here in Orlando, and obviously that's not going to happen, but Brian is number 27 on my list of dead wrestlers that I have wrestled against."
