6/6/07 amber alert ticker is white - no new amber alerts
there have been no new amber alerts listed on the code amber, amber alert ticker, for the past several days; however, a young woman (kelsey smith - 18 years old) has turned up missing under suspicious and unusual circumstances in kansas. apparently, the amber alert is only for missing children not missing adults (there are currently over 50,000 missing adults in this country). Kristen's Law (a federal law) was established when Kristen Modaferi vanished in san francisco, she had just turned 18 and her family could not get any help from the ncmec because they only helped with missing children (under 18 years old) - Kristen Modaferi is still missing. the Modaferi family found some help in the search for their missing daughter from independent nonprofit charities (not federal funded - from Nations Missing Children Organization {which eventually became the National Clearinghouse for Missing Adults, NCMA, and from the Finding Our Children Under Stress, F.O.C.U.S., Organization}; furthermore, the family contacted federal elected politicians and finally got the support to establish Kristen's Law which established the NCMA. Unfortunately, federal funding for Kristen's Law (NCMA) has been slashed to the point that their staff has been reduced from 13 to 3, which greatly jeopardizes this federal organizations effectiveness and efficiency.
on another subject, F.O.C.U.S. Organization checked the code amber web site's "current amber alerts" and found 8 missing children listed. a cross-check was done on the NCMEC web site and found five of the eight were not listed as missing by the NCMEC. both code amber and ncmec were contacted and ncmec claims the names must have been misspelled (when you initiate a search on the ncmec web site their site automatically finishes spelling many of the names for you). some of the code amber missing children were on their web site; however, you have to go to a different e-mail address to see their photo id flyer. ncmec also claimed two of the missing listed on code amber had been recovered (laura and jonathan arciniega); but, code amber replied back that they are still considered missing by code amber. once again showing our federal elected politician's left hand not only doesn't know what their right hand is doing, they don't even know which hand is their left or right.
and on another subject, an 8 year old boy was 'located' (found safe and alive) after being reported missing. he followed his dog into the woods and became lost. over 100 volunteers conducted the search and located the missing boy; perhaps, our troops need to be brought home and they (National Guard) can become part of the search and rescue efforts when a person goes missing.
