LUFKIN — A child predator recognizable by his artificial right leg wheeled into court Friday and accepted a 10-year prison sentence for preying on children and exposing himself at Lufkin city parks and near his Southeast Lufkin home.

In December, Samuel Welker, 30, was indicted on three counts of indecency with a child for stalking children at city parks and near his home in Fuller Springs near Kingston Road.

Friday in an Angelina County courtroom, Welker, dressed in gray slacks and a button-down blue shirt, sat in a wheelchair without his artificial limb. Four family members accompanied him as he pleaded guilty to the charges before state district Judge Barry Bryan.

Welker declined to comment to the The Lufkin Daily News, refusing to say anything to his victims.

During the February 2006 incidents, Welker tried to play with or talk to children at Chambers and Grace Dunn Richardson parks before leaving to masturbate in nearby bushes or his truck, Lufkin police said earlier.

In those cases, Welker admitted to befriending and playing with children until he got excited. He also admitted to using the Internet to access news groups and pictures on child pornography, police said earlier.

In August, Welker pleaded guilty to exposing himself in front of a 66-year-old woman near his home, accepting a short jail stay and a two-year probation sentence in the misdemeanor case.

This happened in Lufkin Texas and that is 15 minute drive for Nacogdoches Texas where I live. I just wanted everyone to see this because of the story (Ron the Dad That Is Fighting Back)The guy he is talking about Jack McCellan says he has his fantasies and he has his website for pedio's, but he does not act on his fantasies
Well compare these two. This guy just talks to the kids in the parks and it get him excited and then he leaves to go masturbate in the bushes or his vehicle. So tell me what do you think of Jack story now ? I bet he does the same thing. This men are sickos and need to be locked up away from children.
Jack says he do not act out and if he does not one day he will and it will be to late. If he says he is not acting on his fantasy I believe he will one day. Just like this guy did and he is spending 10 years in prison for what he did. He also exposed himself to that 66 year old lady and I bet she was totally shocked by that. Our elders should not have to go through something like that either.
