first of all,, i hope i'm replying to the correct post...

ok,,

i recently saw the movie 'Zodiac',, not while unfamiliar with the subject,, because i live in Australia,,, i have read about the crimes,,, as I'm a member of crime library, john Douglas, and have been interest in the subject of 'crime's for a very long time...

A very well written, and thought of movie/. The cast was superb, the scenery realistic, and the whole theme of the movie took you back to the1960's.

the theme kept you 'in the moment',, and you felt the frustration of the investigators, trying to find the perpetrator,,,

also the people who weren't responsible for bringing this person to justice,, yet took it upon themselves to find the perpetrator,, and go through all avenues to pursue this cause,,

The result, is a book,,' the zodiac',, and now the movie...

i thoroughly enjoyed this movie,, the cast was superb, and the content kept you guessing,,

I just watched it this weekend and I really enjoyed it. It was a little long but I didn't find myself losing interest. Like you I had heard some things about the Zodiac but not really all the details. This morning I was dying to find out more information and I have to say that even though all the circumstantial evidence pointed to the person that the movie leads you to believe it is (I don't want to spoil it for anyone that might not already know) I think it was the other suspect. Is that totally confusing? LOL.

It's a good movie and well worth renting/buying.

I rented Zodiac over the weekend and really enjoyed the movie. It was a little long but I didn't find myself losing interest at any point. Although today I did some reading and I'm not sure if I agree with who the movie leads you to believe the Zodia is. I kind of think it was the other suspect.

It's well worth renting/buying.

Wink Zodiak-2007--the characters are good

I bought the movie and I've watched it twice. The characters in the movie are good, and so is the movie, imho.

I seen the movie a few times already, it was okay the characters were good, I guess I was looking more of the zodiac himself, rather than the police trying to catch him.

I am new to the Zodiac, i am intrigued by how he toyed with the police and also he seemed like he wanted to get caught, if that makes any sense.
Not sure if this is true or maybe just rumors, but the Zodiac could have had a partner or someone on the inside helping him.

I watched the movie a few times, it was alright. I was looking more in depth of the zodiac himself rather than the police trying to catch him.

Not sure if this is truth or rumors, the Zodiac was getting help from the inside, I'm not familair with the Zodiac case but anything is possible?

Wisdom prevails. That's the problem with this case, it is difficult to seperate the wheat from the chaff, the facts from the fables, the truth from myth (& the Grays-myth).

BTW, could you actually be any relation to Eric Zelms, SFPD [ret]? (Of course, there's no way of knowing in a forum like this -but is certainly possible). If so, (or even if not), I would like to say that he and Patrolman Fouke have been unfairly maligned. Why would any policeman told to locate and detain a 'negro adult male' -who is presumably getting away with all despatch- waste valuable time detaining a middle aged white man?

They are portrayed as bumbling 'Keystone Kops' by the very same people who place so much emphasis on the police sketch resulting from the amazingly exacting description Zelms gave! It is Eric Zelms who gave Zodiac a face. (IF that was Z, of course!)

On the off chance that you are a close relative, may I ask: what is the address that he gives in the Fincher featurette? (The sound is cut off and my efforts at lip reading- and those of two deaf friends- has thus far failed.) Please e-mail me- that way you won't have any legal worries and 500 people won't knock on the poor current resident's door.

God Bless.

Let me start by saying I have not seen the movie. I have thought about it a few times, but those who have tell me it's so close to Graysmith's book, I really don't see the point. Graysmith's two books were , in my opinion, nothing more than a way to publicly convict a man who police invenstigated for decades but couldn't even arrest. The real Zodiac needs to pay Graysmith for helping to elude capture. Bobert Garysmith fancies himself as the man who "solved" the Zodiac cace. Tell that to the families of the victims who, almost 4 decades later, still don't have closure.

That depends on who you believe Sara. Robert graysmith's suspect (and the killer in the movie), Arthur Leigh allen died in the 90s. His DNA was compared and he was officially cleared as a suspect.

Dennis Kaufman maintains, however, that his stepfather Jack Tarrance is the Zodiac. Tarrance died in 2006 and Kaufman that he "found" Jack's Zodiac hood and turned it over to the FBI, and that they are testing it and comparing Jack's DNA to that found on the Zodiac's stamps, but no news has been released about the findings yet and if the FBI is indeed testing Tarrance's DNA, thay aren't talking.

But, no, officially the Zodiac is still unknown and at large.

Uhm

"I am confused. did we not identify him with his stamps DNA and he is deceased?"

Every1 seems to be "who-dunnit-confused", even though the simplest answer has been staring every1 in the face for some 40-years.

The guy who was always "anal" about getting recognition. Having the world percieve him as more "worthy", preferebly then every1 else, having peeps looking up to him, having peeps being dependent on him, blahblahblah.

The perp has always been that guy who was so manic and anal retentive he collected everything about everything about himself, at the same time doing everything to get to know "everything" so as not to get caught. The feeling that fame gives was the motive. However unlike some assholes, it was the feeling of fame of beeing percieved as a hero, or at least something more then just mere mortals, so to speak, and not just any kind of fame, 'specially not the fame of a monster.

According to theories of Occams razor, zodiac, most likely became content in the early 1970:s more of a fluke perhaps, a specific movie, and since the recognition he got was enough for his pathetic ego, it then hurrled him in an altogehter different direction -- for why kill people when you can claim to fame in a different way ('specially with much less risk), when the feeling of fame and import is what you strived for anyway.

The simplest answer tends to be the true answer, 'cause it usually is. After all, most everything, if not everything, is never so complicated as complicated mediocre mystery novell, no matter how much the rest is trying to complicate everything beyond the basic rationale.

The personality of the zodiac is like that of the Illusionist, he wants to show you his trick, up your face, without getting cought, so he can claim the fame, hence the slight of hands.

The sad part is, every1 let him pull them by the nose, 'cause a complicated mystery is of course by far much more "cool" then the boring gray of every day.
