5/11/07 amber alert ticker is yellow today
an amber alert was activated in clayton county georgia yesterday evening but cancelled by the clayton county sherriff and the georgia bureau of investigation within an hour - victim was found safe, no information on the suspect.
this poses a interesting question, how long after an amber alert is activated should the NCMEC wait before putting the NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT'S "emergency broadcast e-mail" system into action. there's been several amber alerts activated then cancelled within a few hours (over the past several days). perhaps 24 hours after an amber alert is activated, the "emergency broadcast e-mail" system should also be activated. then, within 24 hours of that, every post office in the country would display the missing child notice in the "box" lobby portion of the PO and in the workroom floor area so the carriers can view the flyer before and after their route (as instructed in the NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT PROGRAM'S "POSTAL BULLETIN NOTICES" monthly printings). that would set-off a series of events so within 48 hours of a missing child police report both the amber alert and the "emergency broadcast e-mail" would be activated (adding hundreds of thousands of eyes to the search). any other opinions?
