05/07/07 no new, eight active, amber alerts
there are no new amber alerts today; however, eight previous amber alert missing children cases remain active.
Finding Our Children Under Stress (F.O.C.U.S.) Organization (an all volunteer 501(c)(3) charity made up of family members of missing children), ask for your help with research. F.O.C.U.S. volunteers have traveled into nine states on the west coast, stopping at over 2,000 Post Offices, and checking to see if the national, annual federal funded, NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT PROGRAM, was actually being done. they found less than one per cent of the post offices they checked maintained any type of missing child flyer display area (as intended and instructed in this federal program). anyone who wants to help, please go to the Post Office in your town, see if they have a display of missing child Postal Bulletin Notices, report back to me with a PM about what you found (if there was a display, how many notices displayed, month and year notices were printed by NCMEC, and the Post Office zip code). your help is appreciated (by over 4 million relatives, living in the U.S., of a reported missing person)
and will determine if the federal program is not being done nationally or just on the west coast. missing child notices of Amber Alert featured victims should also be displayed in every Post Office, within 24 hours of an Amber Alert being activated (this is not being done in the nine western state Post Offices that have been part of this research effort).
