Hi, new here

I just joined this site. I'm not exactly sure of what goes on here. Can someone give me a little tutorial? Interests, allowed, not allowed, etc. I joined because I enjoy reading true crime and am interested in learning more about why serial killers do what they do. I am also wondering if anyone here collects items attached somehow to serial killers and why. And also if the people here find that acceptable or reprehensible. I've been following a news story in my iimediate area, about a young man that belongs to a gang. A couple of years ago, he shot and killed 2 NYC police detectives during an illegal gun buy. He shot them both point blank in the back of the head. (They were all in a car) He has just received the death penalty. Ronel Wilson, anyone know, to whom I am referring? He lived about 3 blocks from me. As you can imagine, my neighborhood was ablaze with notoriety. My area is a drug infested, high crime, low income one. Only 3 nights ago, I heard gunshots during the middle of the night. About 2am. (I always take note of the time and look into our daily newspaper the next day to see if they mention it and what happened). More often than not, there is no mention. Especially during summer months, this happens (hearing gun shots), at least once or twice a month. Sometimes there will be helicopters circling the area, afterwards, sometimes nothing. And, now a couple of years later, I can count the number of times that I see a police car drive by my house, weekly, on one hand. But and so, am I in the right place here? If not, I'll move on. Thanks all, for your thoughts and consideration!

Hi and a big welcome to Crime Library. Everybody here, I think it's fair to say, has an interest in Crime and the Criminal Mind. Most of us are amateur sleuths.

The way this Library works is that you must obey the Terms of Service or else you may be banished never to return as emirceurt, you may, however, return as some have done with another user name.

The gang is friendly and Freshwater is the Administrator, who to my mind is very fair.

Put paragraphs in anything you write. Otherwise no one will read it. DON'T SCREAM unless absolutely necessary, just as I have shown.

Treat everyone with respect and you shall have a wonderful time here on CL messageboard.

We only get 3 icons to use. Like the icons to the right of the page. So, spare a thought for someone wanting to reply to your post and leave one for them. All of the icons are self explanatory, except for the Punch Men. The Punch Men are rarely used. However, I use them as a means of taking a swipe at myself. They are the only two true loves of my life.

So that's about it. I've probably forgotten something. Anyway, some one on the board will usually set you straight. Have fun.

Froggy

......thanks for the welcome!

Hi froggy and thank you for the welcome. Looks like I am in trouble immediately, I don't know how to do "paragraphs". So, I'll try to keep my posts short. So again, I'll just ask.......... "I am also wondering if anyone here collects items attached somehow to serial killers and why. And also if the people here find that acceptable or reprehensible". If I am posting this in the wrong place, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi emi, You can make a paragraph by just hitting return on your computer, give it a try.

I don't know if anyone collects criminal paraphenalia maybe only the Dominatrix's on the Board LOL. You can start a thread, which is a category for people to comment on and give their views as to the right and wrongs of such a collection.

Now you're going to ask me how you create a thread. Ya see I'm also part psycho, oh, I mean psychic. Well the answer is, I think, because I haven't done one on this new format. Go to the bottom of the page where is says you 'may start a thread' press that. I suspect it takes you to how to do it. You give it a Heading like: Is it wrong or right to collect Criminal Paraphenalia or Does anyone collect Criminal Paraphenalia? You get my drift. Anyhoo.

Give it a go. But that will brings the comments fast and furious. So be ready.

Froggy

Sorry, Emi. I need to find out myself so I'll pm Freshwater. It's probably so easy that it's too easy. I'll get back to ya.

I've pmd Freshwater. She will get back to me shortly. In the mean time, the way to pm Freshwater is to go to her name, click on it. Her name is usually on the Sticky which in other words is just a note like you'd put on your computer to remind you of something.

You can find Freshwater or any other member by going to Member List at blue line above.

Private Message click on Private Message and start typing. PM is up there underneath your nic name. Goodness, I do things so automatically that I've forgotten how to do most things on here. That's when you know you've been here too long.

If you like send Freshwater a pm just for practise. She won't mind, I'm sure.

Hi emirceurt and welcome to the forum. If you'd like to start a new thread with your question I think a good place to post it would be under General Crime Discussion. Here's the link....

http://boards.crimelibrary.com/forumdisplay.php?f=142

Once there you should see something that says "Forum Tools" (upper right hand of page) Click on this and it gives you the option to start a new thread. Good luck with your question.

Emi, Freshwater got back to me. Apparently it was that easy, as I suspected.

You go to the area you wish to put the thread e.g. General Discussion, then to the top left there is the word THREAD, click on that and away you go. Who knew?
