I Spent 24 Years In Prison For Murder

Here's an interesting story on a citizen journalism webiste, based out of Vancouver, BC:

"In 1970, at 26 years of age, I was sentenced to life imprisonment. As much as it was a shock to the system it wasn’t entirely unexpected. I had been an active criminal, heavily involved in armed robbery, as well as being a known ‘face’ in the underworld scene. Through long introspection and the studying of cases of other people who have committed very serious crimes, I've come to believe that there exists an elemental force for evil in the world. The corrolary of that, of course, is that there also exists an elemental force for good. With regards to both, I believe that it is possible for an individual to be ‘invaded’ by them. In my particular case, with hindsight, I can recall a ‘dark force’ or ‘beast’ that drove me towards committing murder. These mitigating factors do not excuse me from responsibility, and I am not seeking forgiveness. Yet I can provide insight into the nature of evil."

You've come to a good place to advertise your meanderings. I was surprised to note that you were an English murderer. The English aren't traditionally a particularly armed, violent people. Thus, their Police Officers don't wear guns. Your case would have been covered quite a bit by the media I'm guessing back then.

If you had committed the same crimes in America you would still be sitting behind bars. So, I expect you are fortunate the English aren't as harsh in their sentencing.

You would have come across some pretty evil people over the period of your life, I was going to say incarceration, except I think your life is more appropriate. Your maladjustment or anti-social behaviour would have started very young. Your upbringing would have played a significant part in your development. A lout lookin' for trouble, and having no trouble finding it.

Feeling tough, because bullying was your nature, not second nature. You chose your fate and fate helped you along. Justice caught up with you which kept you at bay from the public, justice was served.

When things don't go your way in the future you may revert to type. I think that's a fair statement. It's easy to fall back into old ways, old coping mechanisms. We shall see what we shall see.

Thanks emilyk007 for providing us with this story. I've actually addressed my response to the convicted murderer. Can't you read. The murderer didn't put this here, a member did.
