Blowing off steam: an off-topic topic
I enjoyed seeing pictures of posters' pets, and I was feeling guilty about taking the "One Reason" thread off topic. So I thought I would start an off-topic thread where we can get to know each other as people other than SIIs or SIGs.
Another shot of my biggest cat, Oliver. They all love to hang out up there.

From my windows, I can see the mountains (closer than they look here) and the downtown Denver skyline. I moved here from New York a year ago, and I love it.

Last July 4 my daughter and I had a barbecue (she and her two dogs lived with me for about 8 months) because I figured this would be a great spot to watch fireworks. Then it started to pour a half-hour before they were due to start. They rescheduled them for the next night, and she was out. I sat on the front porch with the dogs and watched them -- I'll try again this year.

Oh, not far from me at all! My daughter moved here 8 1/2 years ago, and I finally figured that if I ever have grandchildren, it would be nice to see them more than twice a year (she was engaged when I made the decision to move, but she called it off). It's very laid back here, and the people seem much friendlier than they were back in New York. And I love the weather (except for the blizzard we had just before Christmas, though that was kind of fun for maybe the first day).

It's great to be in the same town with your daughter..my daughter lives in PA, so I don't get to see my granddaughter except on occasions..so I know what you mean..

Your Peke is adorable AW.
We had two pekinese as family pets when I was a child.
Your Peke reminds me very much of the one we called Tiny.

I don't doubt that. I remember our pekinese being mean little rascals. In fact, I remember getting bit on the nose a time or two.
If pekinese were big dogs they would be dangerous.

This is my cat when he was 1 year old with my son who was 4. The cat is 11 now. I thought he was Siamese when I bought him but I think he's a Balinese. His body shape is more like a regular cat but his markings are of a seal point Siamese.

From the floor to the counter to the top of the fridge to the top of the cabinets. Sometimes two of them will get up there and then have turf wars. Never a dull moment! Getting down is interesting, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jjkUua_HNE

The cats are all tabbies -- Ollie is gray striped (and 20 pounds), and his brother and sister Henry and Lucy are black and about 12.5 pounds. Both boys have extra thumbs and extra toes on their back feet.
Your cat is gorgeous!

I like this thread! We're all reasonable people who agree to disagree and I do hope that we can begin to trust each other to converse on a personal level. Find out why one of us feels point A goes to B and another feels point A goes nowhere.
I brought wine. Chardonnay and Merlot! *Otteruncorking*
EM ~ that picture is so sweet. And all the critters. The only critter I have is my old mom who I take of. I love her!

Can I interest you in a nice petite syrah? I found a really wonderful one! I'm thinking of uncorking a bottle and having a pizza delivered.

I love 'em! TG, your babies look like beagles and an chihuahua...is that right? A hawk could definitely take the little one! If hawk could carry Momo one could take him too cuz he would think it might turn into a game of chase.
enlightenme...It's so sweet when the dog and cat get along. Your Siamese looks like a sweetie. We have a long-haired one in Louisiana. She's the "middle" cat complete with all of the "middle child" personality quirks. Siamese are weird in all of my experience with them anyway. But so beautiful, yeah! Your dog reminds me of a Rhodesian ridgeback that a friend had. Great dogs!
Great thread, y'all!

My daughter and her two dogs moved in with me a couple of weeks after I moved here, and stayed for 8 months. I got Bendix four months after she moved in, so for the next four months we had 3 dogs and 3 cats. The little guy, Maynard, thinks he's Top Dog. Otis, the senior Lab, lets Ben chew on him as much as he wants. He's a sweetie.

All of your pets are adorable!

Awesome thread idea Anne! I used to live in the Mountain states and remember sunsets like that. I kind of miss that along with the scary lightning storms we used to get during monsoon.

Aww, cute babies Y'all have. And your view is absolutely gorgeous, Anne. Odd though that I can only get the top half of Enlightenme's picture. For some reason it won't finish loading.
I have two mixed breeds, one is a sweetie and one loves Anne very much. I'm sorry, Anne.
I used to have a Peke, and she was the meanest little critter I ever had.

Peke's are usually fearless, IMO. But so cute!
I take my 2 dogs to an off-leash dog park not to far from my house nearly every day. There are dogs there from Great Danes to little miniature breeds. The little dogs seem to come in barking their heads off, with an attitude of "don't mess with me!"
There's a Great Dane there that loves to play with a small bulldog. They've played together since they were puppies and they love each other. Although, the Great Dane has to lie down and have the bulldog jump all around and on it. It's hilarious!

Haaa, Packy, thing is, I think she DOES love me! She'll crawl up on my lap and hang out. It's just that I have to be careful not to try to pet her when she's in her safe spot.

That's hilarious..!
My peke always has that "don't mess with me" look on her face..she is re-arranging my backyard..LOL ..she is so cute..she picks up a piece of gravel in her mouth, runs to the opposite side of my backyard and drops it there next to a palm tree...then she goes back for more..! she's building a mound of gravel next to that palm tree...LOL

Let me put some cheese and fruit together too. BRB

Ahhhh, nice!!! Just finished off a bottle of
 (2004, though)
My friend who was here Tuesday night and then went to a conference, is back because her flight back to NY was cancelled. We grilled steaks and had a nice bottle of wine, and I have to get up at 5 a.m. to get her back to the airport. It sure was nice to have the extra time with her, though.

*sigh* Too bad, so sad. But I'm really enjoying everyone else's pics. So keep 'em comin'!

Yes, Anne.
The pups are all so cute. Today I can see all of Enlightenme's picture, but so odd it wouldn't finish loading the other day. So sweet.
My Peke was fearless too, Attorney. I always seem to get fearless little ones, and the bigger ones are so passive and sweet.
Liked your picture too, Otter. Hahaaa.
