PR: Indianapolis Man Murdered By 14 Year-Old Boy

Early this morning, March 28, 2007, at 1:10 A.M., IMPD officers were sent to 249 S. Trowbridge Street reference a person shot. As officers were arriving, a gold Chevy van fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Officer Bueckers chased the vehicle to 237 S. Temple Avenue where it stopped and the driver surrendered. Assisting officers arriving on Trowbridge Street were informed a person was shot in the backyard. When they went to investigate, they found Herbert D. Patton, W/M/39, shot in the chest. He was taken to Wishard Hospital where he later died. Witnesses told police the 14 yr. old driver of the van shot Mr. Patton after they argued over the van. The witnesses were transported to 237 S. Temple Avenue where they identified the 14 yr. old as the person who shot and killed Mr. Patton. The suspect is currently incarcerated for murder.
