Missing Sheldean Human (7) found dead

Good day Everyone!

It's a sad day for everyone in South Africa. I just want to share this with everyone here. I use to read the kidnapping cases, child murders etc. And all the while I knew it was horrible but since I'm living in South Africa it seemed so far away. That horror visited South Africa last month.
On the 18th February 2007 a little girl, Sheldean Human (7), went missing in my community. Since there is word that the newest crime in South Africa is, that people are kidnapping girls ages 7 - 10 to "prepare" them for prostitution for the 2010 Football World Cup event or to sell our children to such people. Everyone feared the worst.
Newspapers, radio and television channels carried updates on a daily basis for more than two weeks on the dissapearance of Sheldean. South Africa hoped and prayed...
Sadly, we were advised last night that she had been found. Her abductor confessed and led police to where he hid her badly decomposed body. South Africa is mourning today...
As a community, it was devastating for us to have had one of our kids go missing. We supported the police in their search and cried out against this horrible thing that was happening. But for little Sheldean Human, it was too late...

I have a little girl myself, and I can just imagine what Sheldean's parents must go through. My heart is broken and my eyes filled with tears. And I'm sure the whole of South Africa feels the same. Please keep Sheldean's parents in your prayers.

You are so welcome. My heart grieves for that poor child and her family. What I don't understand is this: They questioned Jordaan and, according to the article, he cooperated by showing them where he hid her body... but later on it says they couldn't link him to the case?

Gauteng provincial commissioner, Commissioner Perusal Naidoo, praised the law enforcement agencies for a "job well done" and thanked the community for their support and help in the search.

I won't think the law enforcement agencies did a "job well done" until her killer is brought to justice.

I have never seen something like this before. There are so many people in front of the Pretoria Court. I am so proud to see a community standing together in a fight that seems so hopeless a few months ago. Make me feel good to think that Shaldean's death was not in vain.

Crowd gathers ahead of Sheldean court case
09/03/2007 08:23 - (SA)

Pretoria - Several hundred people dressed in pink tops and jeans began gathering in front of the Pretoria magistrate's court shortly after the morning rush hour on Friday.

The pink-tops-and-jeans protest against children becoming victims of crime was called by the trade union Solidarity.

Seven-year old Sheldean Human, found murdered in the city this week, was dressed in a pink top and jeans when she went missing on February 18.

Andrew Jordaan, 25, is scheduled to appear later on Friday in connection with the case.

Jordaan, who pointed out to police where Sheldean's body was hidden, was expected to apply for bail.

He was the last person to be seen with Sheldean, and faces charges of kidnapping and murder.

Once again I want to thank you all for posting on this subject.
