Des peres — Six and a half years ago, a local schoolteacher was shot to death, in the light of day, in the parking lot of a busy suburban mall.
On Friday night, police said they had finally found her killer.
A baseball cap found at the crime scene led investigators this week to Austin, Texas.
Second case
Just a week ago, on Feb. 2, prosecutors in St. Louis County charged an Illinois man, Gregory Bowman, with the 30-year-old murder of Velda Joy Rumfelt, a 16-year-old Brentwood girl who had disappeared and was later found sexually assaulted and strangled, with her throat cut.
