Alot of murderers come from families that have religious backgrounds. It is easy to have an ideal but another thing to follow it completely which nobody can do.
Children are born with very logical if not Autistic minds and they can be easily effected by the slightest hypocrisy on the parents part. i.e. the mother who claims to be a devout Catholic then sleeps around, the father who says his children are good for nothing and then abuses them.
Children are not easy to look after all the time but as long as parents are willing to make certain sacrifices like not watching programmes on TV that are unsuitable for children or better still getting rid of the TV and doing things together as a family and basically giving up all things like drinking/smoking, gambling in return for a healthier lifestyle the child has a better chance of turning out with higher moral standards and respect for their parents . For example if a parent smokes infront of their child and tells them not to because it is bad that is basically telling a child that their parents have no self worth if they would do something bad to themselves so what difference does it make if I do that? Same with abuse same goes for anything.
When we encounter a hypocrytical parent which I am sure we all have at some point whether it be our own or someone elses you feel a sense of anger or disgust inside. Now imagine a child having to live with that all of their lives? You will get one angry and confused little child who will need to get that anger out somewhere and the deeper the hypocrisy runs the worse the child is going to feel. Psychopaths display a certain type of behaviour called the flat effect. I believe this is caused by the constant wearing down of a head figure in the persons life stemming from hypocrisy. The father who tells his son he is a useless, good for nothing and a failure when all he ever did was is put his feet up every night to watch TV and hit his wife is a prime example. Hope you get what I am trying to say anyway.
