Arrest in Bike Path Rape/Murder Case
Jan 15, 2007 - Breaking news in a case that has puzzled local police for more than 20 years. 7 News was the first to tell you that there's been an arrest made in connection with the Bike Path Rape and Murder cases.
48 year old Altemio Sanchez of Cheektowaga is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in connection with the 1990 murder of U.B. student Linda Yalem.
Police went to Sanchez's house on Allendale Drive in Cheektowaga...executing search warrants on his home and his vehicle.
Investigators have been following numerous leads after the September murder of Joan Diver. The Clarence mother was murdered while jogging on the Clarence Bike Path in early September. DNA evidence linked Diver's murder to nine other rape and murder cases blamed on the elusive Bike Path Rapist.
