The Pam Griffin Factor
I am reviewing an issue with Pam Griffin (PG) I detected when I was reading the 1998 PR Interview (IV) with Law Enf. (LE). I noticed at Page 623 where E. Armistead, Ramsey Investigator, asks LE for this "so-called report of (PG) who you have quoted from during this interrogation for three days." I was curious, because PG was not a high profile person in this case. I scanned the PR 98 Interview and found one reference to PG on P229. I scanned paperbacks of DOI, ST, PMPT and found 14 in PMPT and almost none in DOI/ST. I eliminated references of duplicated discussions and those not relevant or material to the IV which left seven, two of which were analyzed further for signifcance and deleted. That left 5 categories of discussions (The first two were combined and one will be saved for discussion with Scarves and Tiaras. That leaves 3)
1. The RN and Other Incriminating statements. A) At PMPT330 PG indicates to J. Shapiro that the term small foreign faction might be in the RN. How would she know unless she got the info from PR? Why is PR confiding in PG when she states frequently that she is reluctant to even talk to JR about the crime because it is too disturbing? How close are PR and PG? B) At PMPT436 PG says that PR wrote the practice note for innocent purposes such as an invitation. This is fairly incriminating even to say to a good friend. C) PG alleges PR said to her on 12/27: They've Killed My Baby...We didn't mean for this to happen at PMPT52. PG, noting the change in pronouns, dismissed the statement as delirium. More incrimination?
2. Telephone Calls - A) Follow closely/read completely - On 12/26 PG returns home from mall in early PM to find several frantic messages from PR, Pam or Polly on her machine saying: I need to talk...call Ramsey house (PMPT26). A later message on the machine was whispered by PW that she couldn't talk on phone. (There is only one call from PW to PG and none from B. Fernie.) Note that PMPT26 also says PW began calling friends about JBR's death shortly after 1:30PM. If you assume it was PR frantically calling it had to be prior to 1:30.(keep reading) If PG is normally home sleeping at 5:52 AM when PR made her calls to friends, PG wouldn't have messages on her machine or at least would have returned them prior to going to the Mall at say, 9:00AM, making the likely time of the calls 9AM-1:30PM. Now note that the BPD had the Ramsey phone trapped logging all calls. Note that Pam/Polly, PR's sisters are probably getting from Atlanta to Boulder and won't be making several calls for they do not know if PG has returned the first one. Patsy must be the "I" and the instructions could logically be:call the home phone, not a cell phone. Now going to the 98 PR IV with LE on P66 we see that LE asks about cell phones, not calls made before or after 9-1:30 or calls made from another location or persons called. If they are worried about additional calls after 1:30 why ask about cell phones?(Remember, LE is utilizing the PG report) BPD must not have a record of the calls on the Ramsey line from Patsy to PG but PG may, probably on an answering machine with time noted. Why would PR be calling for PG several frantic times at this particular time? I thought PR was debilitated at this time. Whose phone is being used? PR's...or PW's, which may be why PW is whispering. How did PR get privacy or is she just with PW and they use the phone? Who made the calls, with what phone, how, when and why? B) PG gets another 'PR needs you right now' call on 12/27 PM from PollyPaugh. PG goes to PR, finds her OD on valium and assists her as PG was a Reg. Nurse. But wasn't PR being treated by Dr. Beuf and Patty Novack, a Reg. Nurse from PR's church? If the call wasn't for medical reasons, then was it for PR to confess with the They/We statement (PMPT52-4) and the practice note statement (PMPT436-7). Why PG for the confessional?
3. Bedwetting-Read closely and completely - In PMPT121, PR tells PG that JBR wets bed, and underpants wet all the time and further says that she(PR) get up at midnite to have JBR go to Bathroom. COUPLE those with LHP statement at ST50 where she says first six months with PR, JBR wet bed all the time..it stopped...started a month ago and PR would strip wet sheets. THEN add PR statements from 98 Interview of JBR wets bed 1-2 times per week (P564), JBR did not wet bed on Xmas Eve/Morning (P567). NOW add PR statement from 97 Interview of JBR likely to wet bed at night if no potty first. NOW, add LHP statements at PMPT728 of Pink/White sheets put on JBR bed on 12/23;Beauty/Beast sheets on JBR bed in CrimeScenePhoto and pink/white sheets in dryer in CSP;JBR bed barely disturbed in CSP. FINALLY, add 98 PR Interview P247 statement that routine application of linen on JBR bed: fitted sheet, flat sheet, tucked in white blanket, comforter. OK, analyze.
For pink/white sheets to be in dryer, odds are JBR wet bed on night of 12/23 or 12/25, not 12/24. If wet on 12/25 we have confrontation of JBR/PR. Even if not wet on 12/25, PR may have come in at midnite, since JBR did not potty first since JR carried her upstairs asleep, and another possible confrontation of JBR/PR. So, assume JBR wet bed on night of 12/23. Sheets and blanket go in washer/dryer. PR remakes bed with Beauty/Beast sheets while blanket in washer/dryer. Blanket stays there. What stranger/intruder goes looking in dryers. Ok...blanket not urine stained or PR came back to put on bed when blanket dry. This means stranger/intruder must pull tucked blanket from under cover with JBR in arms or take blanket off while JBR waits, or intruder/killer returns to JBR room to partially remake bed. The only way it can benefit PR is if PR put blanket on top of comforter when dry but that is not the usual routine.
I will address Tiaras and Crowns, involving PG, with Scarves at another post. The original analysis of the Pam Griffin Factor was 17,000 characters or too long for 2 posts. This is the abridged version. All analyses is for discussion purposes only, not stated as fact, is solely my opinion upon analysis and does not express or imply any theory as to who killed JBR.

It says on p 330 that it was March when Shapiro talked with Pam Griffin. I think by then the foreign faction info had had plenty of time to wander around the Boulder grapevine. Alli Krupski had been told Iran was in it so clearly it was a topic of conversation.
If you haven't already read it you might be interested in this:

Shapiro's rapport with Thomas won him certain privileges. On at least one occasion, Thomas allowed Shapiro to sit in on a sensitive investigation. In July 1997, Thomas asked me to come to the police station to phone Pam Griffin, a friend of Patsy Ramsey, so that he could surreptitiously tape the conversation. The detective wanted to document a remarkable assertion that Griffin had made to me: Patsy Ramsey admitted to her that she wrote the so-called "practice note."
However, said Griffin, Patsy claimed that it was just the aborted start of an invitation to some event which Patsy couldn't recall. Thomas allowed Shapiro to monitor my conversation with Griffin. The session was a bust, though, when Griffin dismissed her previous comments as "speculation" about Patsy's actions.

Thanks Louisa;
I was unaware that Griffin had qualifed her own statement as to the practice note. I don't know why, but for some reason I got the feeling Griffin may have been overplaying her role as a confidant of PR. In my original, unabridged analysis that was one of the questions I posed. Was Pam Griffin impeachable in general? Lets see what the rest of the forum has.

Hey, NP, read the entry by Louisadelmar, and ask yourself again why I have such a low opinion of Synthroid Steve.
