Question about Manson Family Murders/Helter Skelter

I just finished reading Helter Skelter and I was curious about one thing. The book mentioned 4 men whos names had to be changed for legal reasons in the book. They were listed as drug dealers, and supposedly crashed a party the Polanski's threw prior to the murders and were kicked out. One of them allegedly threatened to kill Frykowski. They were suspects but passed polygraph tests and had alibis, so the cops ruled them out.

I was just wondering if anyone knew their identites? I searched Google but could not find any info on the matter.

I'm looking into it too.

I thought it was interesting to note that "The first murder by the family was of Gary Hinman, a Los Angeles drug dealer and musician. His body was discovered on 1969-JUL-31."

You may have some trouble finding them. Being drug dealers they could be dead by now, or in jail. And it's entirely possible that they've put having been suspects behind them, or considered it too insignifigant to use as a way to reveal themselves on line.
I'd avoid any pro-Manson sites, as well as most blogs. Some people do make things up...but it's possible that you could access further information through the California Board of Investigation's website, or maybe the FBI site. I've not used these sites myself, but I thought that it might be a logical direction for you to go in.
Also have you considered looking for trial transcripts or case files? Are you in a position where you can actually go to the police station or contact them? They may have someone you can talk to there.
Good luck in your search, I'm hunting info on Carlton Gary, and he's a rather elusive little booger...I know your pain!
