"The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie" Book

(From ACandyRose site):
PR: Yes. I uh, there was some scholarship for winning Miss West Virginia. I can’t remember exactly how much and then at the Miss America pageant I won a non-finalist talent award and I think it was a $2,000 scholarship for that.

TT: I’ve got to ask which talent.

PR: (Laughter) “The Kiss of Death” dramatic dialog.

??: (Laugher)

ST: (Inaudible) Miss Jean Brody.

PR: Your right.

TT; Was that, was that earlier?

PR: “The Pride of Miss Jean Brody.” Well actual. . . no it wasn’t, actually what happened, uh, I did the Miss Jean Brody, I competed in high school with that and uh, placed nationally with it and then I had done that for Miss West Virginia and won with that and then when you go to Miss America you have to do through this.......

Thanks, Ames. That was pretty interesting. Without having read the book or play myself, though, it's hard to have any opinion on it pertaining to Patsy.
The thing about the pineapple was a bit disturbing, I must admit; as well as the question of how "possession" is spelled. That's a heck of a coincidence.

Brother Moon (aka Paradox?) has been pushing the Brodie theory for years. Unfortunately there is no record of Patsy obsessing about Jean Brodie or the play. The Muriel Spark Society has no record of her corresponding with them. I think if the play had driven Patsy to kill her daughter there would have been clues over the years of a developing fixation

This book was required literature that we had to read while in HS because it had so many different themes in it for analysis. The book is more about history, facism and a teacher who went against cirriculum to try to control the way six of her students thought with right-wing politics. Sandy Stranger, a student and a key character was a rebel and betrays her.

I do not see a connection at all other than Patsy recited some of the book at a pageant as her talent choice for drama. Some people have very wild imaginations and this theory connection totally escapes me. IMO.

Yep, there may be nothing to it...but, I just thought that the mention in the book of pineapple, attache, and of how "possession" was spelled, was a bit eerie....IMO
