Exclamation Something interesting that went on before the prelim.

I went to the Darren Mack prelim. on August 30th...The prosecution side was all filled up with media so I wound up sitting right next to the Mack Family. I was early and a Washow County corrections officer was sitting right in front of them, when Darren Mack's brother, Landon Mack, started talking to him about boxing, and then he was getting all buddy buddy with him, then Landon said " take care of my brother for me, get him everything he needs" the officer said "I will" then they were talking alot again, and then Landon asked him to go to Taco Del Mar with the family for lunch and the officer said sure, so when they took a lunch recess I went to a pizza place between the Mills Lane Justice Center and Taco Del Mar, and I was walking back, when I saw the Mack Family nad that corrections officer walking out of the taco place, laughing, strangely Taco Delmar I believe is just below the parking garage Reno Police Suspect Darren shot Chuck Weller from...isn't that odd that they went out to lunch together? I think he might be getting special treatment because of his brother's flirting

Well, that is an interesting story! The family knows a lot of people, so it isn't really that surprising. After all, Darren was a good friend of the District Attorney and even communicated with him from Mexico regarding his surrender to LE. Darren also has a cousin who was on the Las Vegas City Council.

Keep us informed on any other interesting "sightings"!

The Entire Mack family seems a little smug, i.e. calling a murderer a "model citizen" in a interview with the Reno Gazette Journal and going to eat tacos with the corrections officer involved with transporting Darren Mack, I believe Joan Mack could have encouraged the murder of Charla...you never know,
I know that the trial is gonna be horrible for the families and the kids, I really hope it goes by easily

Like I've mentioned in previous posts ... Nevada is a different sort of place, and it breeds different sorts of characters.

It's been my observation having lived in many other states, that undereducated, not very talented people ... people who would be flipping burgers in most other places ... can rapidly climb the ladder of success in Nevada provided they have ambition and "juice."

Having "juice" (being connected to powerful people) is what it's all about here.

Can't comment on the Joan Mack-as-accessory theory, however. Seems a bit far-fetched to me. In any event, I doubt DM needed much encouragement.

No intrusion at all.

Don't know that I know you ... hmm ... I'm intrigued!

Based on the time of your post, I'm guessing you're on the East Coast ... I have friends and family on that side of the country and hail from there myself.

Based on your nic, you're an animal lover/advocate. Same here, and I've got lots of friends and family who are, as well.

Whoever you, are ... cheers!

I've been away for a while and trying to catch up with the interesting posts. I have two interesting tidbits.

I saw DM's mother today. Evidently, she is taking Erika to the same private school she had attended when her mother died, which is close to our home. At least she is doing that much. I saw an ivory metallic Cadillac Escalade or Avanlance (can't remember which - looked like a pickup that will covert to an SUV) with a very obvious personalized license plate having to do with her business. I wouldn't be advertising who I was, but I digress. She was at a stop light and I drove up beside her to see, already knowing who she was. ick

The other thing is I know someone who knows someone who works at the jail. The word is that DM seems to think he's a celebrity, above the others. He's in with the child molestersm etc. because he is high-profile and needs more protection or something like that. He evidently hasn't changed a bit. He also lives on the phone there. I can see that being true as that is what he did OUT of jail and that is what his family did one week after the murder when I saw them. On their cell phones, looking like they were doing business or something.

Ick on all counts. ITA.

On a slightly different note. Gotta love Chaz Higgs (critical care nurse, widower and now alleged murderer of Kathy Augustine, Nevada State Controller) calling DM "stupid" for the way in which he allegedly ended Charla's life.

This from a man (Higgs) who ratted out his own stupid behind to a co-worker a day before he allegedly injected Augustine with the paralyzing drug that killed her. Then made some half-hearted, absurd suicide attempt the day before her funeral (and was released from the hospital within hours of being admitted). Then didn't attend either her funeral or a memorial service held a few weeks after. And all this just a handful of years after Kathy's former husband died while in Chaz's care, followed 3 weeks later by his marriage in Hawaii to the widow Augustine.

And he's calling DM "stupid?" Gimme a break. Pot, meet kettle. Seems like there's plenty of stupid to go around these days in Northern Nevada.

JerzyScott10 is not telling the truth

JerzyScott10: you might have been at the preliminary hearing but you are not telling the truth about what happened. Landon Mack and one of the detention officers were discussing a mutual friend they have in the boxing world but no request for special treatment of Darren Mack was asked for or agreed upon between Landon Mack and the detention team. Further, the Mack family did not have lunch at Taco Del Mar nor did they have lunch with any member of the detention team. One of the DRT team members was joking about getting tacos from another well known taco stand in town not Taco del Mar.

Maybe you should get your facts straight before you start putting garbage on the internet to slander people. The officers from the DRT team have been total professionals in doing their job providing transportation and protection to inmates from the Washoe County, including Darren Mack.
