Judge was a girl!

http://www2.csc.edu/eyh/speaker/speaker2000.asp

"Her professional involvement has included the Nebraska Commission for the Protection of Children"

She obviously just doesn't get it. And she is a mother. SCARY!

Case has been appealed. Let's hope the Appellate Division understands the LAW and simply applies it.

Great photo of Appellate Court. Hope these guys get it.

That's completely ridiculous. The judge needs to be held accountable for her actions, especially when he does it again.

Too Short For Prison?

I saw this on Nancy Grace last night and am completely astounded that in this day, with all we know about sex offenders, that this judge could act so irresponsibly to give this guy 10 yrs. probation. He has been classified as a "high risk to reoffend"!

The sex offender whose 5-foot-1 height was cited by a judge as she sentenced him to probation instead of prison has been classified by the state as a high risk to reoffend.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,203327,00.html

But Joe Mangano, secretary of the National Organization of Short Statured Adults, agreed with the judge's assessment that Thompson would face dangers while in prison because of his height.

"I'm assuming a short inmate would have a much more difficult time than a large inmate," said Mangano, who is 5 feet 4 inches tall. "It's good to see somebody looking out for someone who is a short person."

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,197103,00.html

WTH?!? Sure, let's put the short sex offenders well-being over that of the children he DID molest and those he may molest in the future! This is just plain sickening.

Sorry if this has been reported before. I heard about it last night for the first time.

I remember a thread about this case and everyone was ticked off. I'm not sure where it got moved to, though.

Yep, saw this guy. He was one of the perps caught by Dateline. And when he was caught by them he ALREADY had a record.

Absolutely horrible!

Does that mean ALL "little people" can go out and do all kinds of things and not have to worry about jail?

Stupid, stupid, stupid judge! (did I mention I think he's S-T-U-P-I-D?)

I think that one got moved to the family justice or child abuse board... whatever that's called, but I"m not sure.

This was a very upsetting topic to see a man get probation for doing such horrible things to people smaller than he is, just because the judge didn't want the same stuff to happen to him... I don't understand it, and I hope she (I think I recall the judge was a woman) loses her job for this.

I find this judge to be incredibly stupid the whole idea of letting a sex offender off with a slap on the wrist because of his short stature enrages me... This judge should loose her job and never be able to practice law again....jmho

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever hear of. Even if the judge didn't want to be responsible for this guy's getting hurt in jail, isn't that what they have segregation units for? (I personally wouldn't care about his welfare in prison, mind you...)

The courts are so willing to put young, non-violent drug offenders in prison -- where they are often preyed on and come out much more twisted than they went in -- yet people who are already so twisted that they sexually abuse children are allowed to walk the streets?

ARRRGGGHHH!
