Just wondering if any one has heard any thing about Sunflower Road since the secretive search?

I believe it is in Ben Hill County but I haven't confirmed that. Just heard some "rumblings" over the weekend that they were searching around Sunflower Road which could be completely false information. Just wondering if any one had heard that besides me.

It was on Saturday evening that I was told by someone who lived on Player Cemetary Road that searches were being conducted on every pond in that area and especially near Sunflower Road. Supposedly, Sunflower Road is near Player Cemetary Road but I still have not looked it up on mapquest.

These roads appear to be NW of Fitzgerald, between Queensland and Rebecca.

You decide. Just zoom out on the map link above, until you see Ocilla, Fitzgerald and Hawkinsville.

Let me see if I can describe the possible location and one of the locals can this is the place. City Road 248 becomes Kings Chapel Road as it bends. Lower Rebecca Road intersects with Kings Chapel, there is road called Sunflower Road (very close to CSX tracks).that turns off to the left as you are traveling from City Road 248. Is this where they are searching right now?
Saunterer gave this link to location:

Hit zoom out 3 times..

I have no idea where the search is being conducted. I merely linked to a map showing where these 2 named roads intersected. That intersection would seem to be very close to Rochelle. I looked at an aerial of this locale on terraserver, but I could not see many ponds. All JMOO.

I did a county search on terraserver and found this map where one can see lots of ponds (little dark spots). On the right is a map of the main roads but not specific to Sunflower Rd.

I was looking at the aerial photos, but the ponds do show up better on the satellite images. The intersection of the 2 roads is about Lat: 31.829, Long: -83.366; should be in the middle of this image:

Not much help and we don't know (yet) if this is the area they are searching. MOO

More ponds could have been added since this mapping IMO.

Did you see my archive weather report for Ga.? There had been no rain since Oct. 6,7,8. If Tara's car had a chunk of clay in the tires, it had to be near a body of water. You would not pick that up by just being on a dirt road. IMO.

If there was a crop field near by, the ground could have been wet because some farmers have huge watering devices that wet a large area.

Great insight Nancy! Can't Forensic Scientists actually determine from soil samples where a particular patch of soil is.

made me thing about a GA EPD officer I once knew and how he volunteered that Southern GA's land and water has been on the state EPD radar for a long time. Both soil and water have been tested a great deal because of the levels of arsenic, and other chemicals in the soil and water. He said it had to do with intensive farming over generations and other factors. I remember he showed me a soil sample result - I was amazed the way he knew where that sample came from simply by looking at the test results. Maybe those maps used came from the EPD?

Just brainstorming.

What crop would they be watering in October? Cotton needs to dry out before harvesting, right?

I don't know very much about it, but I think the green, leafy plant has to have lots of water? Peach and pecans use drip, mostly. Could be a riser that is leaking and causing wet areas.

And I have not a clue if someone is growing Opium poppy (papaver somniferum) in Georgia- the plant used to make opium and herion . But that could be a crop to consider, I guess.

I haven't posted in a very long time, but I still read here daily.

Can any locals tell us if the search of the pond/ponds are still going on today?

Yesterday we had reason to believe in a shimmer of hope for the family, finally, and today, nothing at all

The silence today is almost deafening.

Afghanistan grows 79% of the world's opium poppy. I don't think Georgia is suited for this crop or I should say I wasn't able to locate any info if it can be grown in Georgia.

I agree about green leafy plants needing water. I think once marijuana is harvested then it is dried out. However, my experience in this is limited to reading about it.

It could be that the remains are mired in mud at the bottom of the pond.I hope the pond is being drained post haste.

Thanks, very interesting. The map of Crystal Lake says 19 km west of Fitzgerald and one of the searches was 10 miles west of Fitzgerald, so is this where they searched??
