I just don't understand how people can just disappear without a trace. Is Ocilla surrounded by water? How much time elapsed between Tara's disappearance and that house burning?

I think it was about 2 weeks after her disappearance. Almost makes me wonder if someone thought LE was getting too close and had to do something drastic.
Or it could be purely coincidental.
Hopefully we will know the truth sooner than later.

According to my info, the fire occurred early in the morning hours of Monday, November 7, 2005, and it burned several hours. (I have also seen it written once that the fire occurred on November 6, 2005). There has been no information released by the GBI, local LE, or state fire marshall's office in connection with the fire (i.e., whether it was arson, etc.). The early comments in the local newspaper were vague and indicated there didn't appear to be any connection between the fire and Tara's disappearance.
I still think it has something to do with the case. JMO.

It seems to me that the house burning could be a factor, obviously. Can ashes be tested for human?

I really hope this case is solved soon. It must be scary for the towns people to know that their is probably a murderer among them....and probably dating one of their daughters. Wake up people....

Does anyone know the areas that they are searching? I live 300 miles from Oscilla. I am from a small southern town. If she was abucted by a local, they know the police will concentrate on the immediate area first and waste precious time. The bf in LE, would know this. My wild guess is she is nearby, but perhaps in another county and the surrounding counties need to be searched as well. Just my 0.02.

Is there alot of swamp areas in Oscilla? Ive never been there, I am guessing it is a small town, but I could be wrong. Are you speaking of the Oakephenoke ( pronounced oak-e-phen-no-kee) Swamp? I may be misspelling the swamp, Ive heard of it all my life.

I have been reading this discussion board almost everyday since Tara went missing. Every morning I turn my computer on and I cannot believe that another day has passed and we can't find her. Where is she? What is taking the GBI so long to release ANY information? I'm so afraid that we will never find her and might never know what happened to her. I do not buy into the scenerio that Tara ran off somewhere. It's been too long. In my gut, I feel that MH had something to do with her disappearance. I am a 31 year old woman, just a few months older than Tara. There is so much life left to live and that has been taken away from her. I pray that they find her. She deserves to be brought home.

LE and GBI should release some info to indicate where they are in the investigation. Some public statement would help.

I agree, there has to be something they can tell us that would not compromise the investigation. It would seem that releasing some info might be helpful in the sense that it would keep people interested in her case. I do have faith in LE, any human that puts their life on the line everyday for others has to be a decent human being...most anyway. Praying for all those in uniform that protect us daily!! You are very appricated and highly respected....Thank you
