Halloween curfew for sex offenders

My city is supposed to enforce a curfew for registered sex offenders on Halloween--how they will do that is beyond me, but hopefully kids can be safe this Halloween.

I think its outrageous! obviously these REGESTERED sex offenders are REGESTERED because they've been caught doing what? BREAKING THE LAW! If these predators are willing to risk their freedom to the extent of molesting children then what makes the authorities think they wont break a lousey kerfew which has a lot less likelyhood of being caught. Do people not know that these guys are well aware that there are not enough cops to watch all of them? I get the feeling that good people are living incarcerated lives in what is supposed to be the land of the free. Because of all the B.S. loop-holes in our criminal justice system anybody can do pretty much whatever they want and expect a short or no sentence for a conviction as long as they have the right rescorces and info. These guys are being released left and right back into our society and because of prior incedences we are forced to change our lives by avoiding places and activities and staying home for fear there may someone hunting our child around the next corner. Its not right at all, we are molding our childern to be victims before they ever have a chance to experience the feeling of true safety by having to raise them to fear and avoid strangers because they might hurt them. Unfortunately, wether contact is made or not the pedophile has hurt them by cheating them out of that innocent trust and safety that every child deserves, that they never feel scared or alone. But thats just my openion

Here's what I saw on the news--the registered sex offenders have probation officers. The probation officers are going to make visits during the curfew hours on Halloween (6 PM to 6 AM). Letters went out to the neighborhoods where sex offenders live and people were informed of who is a sex offender in their neighborhood. Tips on protecting children also went out with the letters.
It's not fool proof, but it's a start. I gotta hand it to LE, it's a good idea.

I'm with you on this. Since they have already released them ,at least there will be a safeguard in place. However, since many of them "run" from supervision it won't be 100%. At least LE is trying to do something. I wonder if they will actually incarcerate those that do not follow the curfew?

I think they will jail any of them they catch out after the curfew. I can honestly say we have some judges here that just won't tolerate the behavior of sex offenders. Manuel Banales is the judge who was on Dateline and 20/20 for ordering sex offenders to put signs in their front yards saying "a Registered Sex Offender Lives here".
I don't think there'll be enough manpower to monitor each sex offender, but it tells me that at least the city is trying to do something about the problem.
