No. It has not yet been scientifically confirmed but they did say that so far it appears to "certainly be her". They just got her dental records and some DNA so it's just a matter of time.

Well.. honestly.. not that great. The problems that he had after the surgery have really taken a toll on him physically. He has alot of hernia's and they REFUSE to operate because of what all happened last time they operated on him so he was fitten with a trus yesterday. He's nothing but skin and bones and he can't seem to gain any weight. He's off the sauce which is good but he started smoking again. However.. with all that he has been through, i probably would have too honestly. He's on anti- depressants now and sleeping medication and i am talking to him now matter of fact on the phone. His voice is also messed up from the intubation. He sounds kinda hoarse and it won't get any better. Were planning a big Holiday for him this December so hopefully that will cheer him up some. Were trying but sometimes it isn't that easy.
Thanks for your concern.

One of my kids goes to VCU and students are saying today that Ben Fawley killed her during rough sex and then buried her out in Mathews County. My heart breaks for her family and friends. I think she was a lot more naive and trusting than she should have been but at 17 I'm sure she thought she was all grown up!
I also wonder how Ben Fawley gets full SS disability payments. I know the process I went through to be found disabled and I certainly would not qualify if I had 7 business I ran and a very active social life. This guy doesn't seem very disabled, does he?
I wonder if he financially supports his kids?

Thank You. I appreciate that. He seems to have really gotten close to his dog, Maggie. She's like his little buddy. LoL
He's frustrated because he hasn't got the energy to do much around the yard or anything. He's always been very, very active and now it takes everything out of him just to cut the front yard.

As far as the disability goes, i think they said he got it from being BiPolar. They said that he is "an extreme case" of BiPolar disorder and that he was off his meds. I'm BiPolar as well, but it isn't "extreme". He could very well collect disability benefits from that, it wouldn't be hard. It isn't uncommon for those who are BiPolar to go off their meds every now and then because they enjoy the high it gives them. I'm the opposite, if i don't have my meds.. i end up in the bed crying for days.
As far as the supporting his kids.. i didn't know he had any.

I would bet that "rough sex" was a euphemism for rape. This is just my guess- my gut feeling, but I think it was a rape murder committed by Fawley.

D'ya know, I've followed this case, and it just has me shaking my head.
When I went away to college, I saw a number of girls in the dorm who just went wild because they weren't under parental supervision. Just went absolutely apesh*t over not having to report to anyone, not having anyone asking them about were they keeping up with their studies, not keeping an eye on who they were hanging out with or what they were doing.
And oh my the guys who had it all worked out to prey on their naivete and vulnerability. So easy for a freshman girl to get a swollen head and feel all mature and smart because some guy in his twenties is paying attention to her.
Really sad. I know we've come 'way too far since the days when girls who went away to college lived in dorms that were almost cloistered, had curfews they had to keep and had to register all dates and visitors with the "dorm mother" (head resident), to ever go back; but a case like this sure makes me think that maybe there needs to be some transitioning from living at home to total freedom for some girls. Maybe they'd hate it, but maybe they'd be safer, too.
Sad.

FWIW, it sounds as if law enforcement is pretty sure they know who did it, and most likely charges will be filed in fairly short order. JMO.

Ben Cawley is the guy in custody. Apparently, among other things, when they searched his house, the found a box spring where a chunk had been cut out and what was left had a reddish brown stain .. plus they found a machete and some bones. Story here
Also the Crime Library has links to this weirdo's "art" pages - and there are two pictures of him (you have to go through lots of pictures of flowers first ) - one clothed and one without a shirt. Bondage type dude. Very sad situation. Absolutely a parent's worst nightmare.

From your link:
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Mike Jagels said authorities have found at least 30 videos on Fawley's computers depicting children as young as 1 in sexual acts.
Leaving aside his 'alleged' involvement in Taylor's slaying, the above makes this liberal heart pound with vengeance.
How can we stop this pernicious and contagious evil to spread like wildfire?
The internet must have made it easy for such perverted freaks to communicate with each other.
I know it is a global phenomenon but we really, really need a global solution. I think we should all come together, pool LE and our secret services in order to nail these filthy perverts...........

Yeah, when I read about this guy, I just kept wondering how the girl could have fallen in with him. It just seems that he was so majorly creepy and repellent that Taylor's (or anyone's) survival instincts would kick in and make her stear clear of him.
IMO any parent who is sending a girl off to college ought to give her a copy of Gavin de Becker's book "The Gift of Fear" and make sure she reads it before she goes.
Sad.

I didn't realize the guy was 38!
When I was 17, me and most of my girl friends knew that any guy who was a lot older than we were was only scraping acquaintance for one reason, and it wasn't because he wanted to enjoy conversation and philosphical discussion. And the greater the age difference, the more likely it was that the guy was interested in what was inside our pants, not inside our heads.
Poor Taylor-- I wonder what kind of home environment she came from, that she didn't have more survival instinct to tell her this guy was very very bad news. Sad.

That makes me physically ill and totally outraged. We all know 'traffic' on the net is checked by the CIA, MI5 for acts or potential acts of terrorism. The software is there - why are we not using it? Like I posted earlier, why isn't there a global 'concord' drawn up in order to stop these freaks in their tracks.
I love the internet and don't know how I lived without it, I have approx 25 sites in 'my faves' including newspapers etc. It is an amazing tool for good and education, but also has the potential to be used by every paedophile, thief, ****, terrorist and criminal................

The pain this mother is feeling is without a doubt the worst pain anyone could ever feel.
My own daughter was killed when she was 17, but I was able to claim her the same day. I know what it did to me....10 yrs later and I've never been the same and never will be.
I can't even begin to imagine the pain of Mrs. Behl. Same is true for Halloway, Rocha, not having any idea of where their girl is until she turns up in a shallow grave somewhere.
Bless this mother as she moves forward in these next few days, and for the rest of her life. This was her only child, as was Laci, Natalee the only daughters.

You just do it.
Just move through everything in slow motion. Even looking back it all seems like a dream, but I know that I know it's for real. It's when all is said and done, after everyone goes home, the phone stops ringing, people stop sending cards, that it begins to creep up on you.
Then without expectation it hits like a bucket of ice water in the face. Desperately trying to catch ones breath, we begin our journey back to some kind of sanity, some reach it, some don't, but it will change the way one lives and thinks for the rest of ones life.
Here is hoping nobody here ever has to feel what this is like!
For you and yours whomever you are.

|
Dunlurken, I didn't mean to imply she didn't come from a good family. It's just that I can't fathom why Taylor felt that being alone with this guy was safe. Did she know him before she went away to college? If she didn't, if he was someone she met soon after she left home and got to college, she sure let him through her safeguards awful fast, without making him prove himself to her as someone safe to know.
I feel like a broken record on this, but for their own safety, women-- especially young women-- have to know that it isn't safe to allow a guy to get to close to them until they really, really have gotten to know him. Also that safety has to trump fun every single time if you want to stay alive and unscathed.
Sad as this situation is, it's another "teachable moment" for mothers who have teen-age daughters: sit down with them and talk to them about the need to be serious about their own safety, to not rush into relationships of any kind, and to just be careful because there are dangerous people out there with bad intentions.
