Smile General Crime: Discussion on crime, trials, criminal psychology........

Since many of us are displaced and miss posting at court tv together I have an idea....!!

All of us can start over with each other and let the past go. If we cannot post decent with each other then we have options. We can simply ignore, take our frustration to PMs, or simply leave the thread. If anyone does not like the current topic or the topic that comes on board later...please exit the thread and find a different thread to post on. Posting that you dislike the topic starts additional disagreements and interrupts the posters that are discussing the current topic at hand.

To any of you that have been offended by me personally in the past consider this my apology. I am not going to say I have/have not done anything wrong with posting before for this is a new thread with a new life. All of us need to be responsible for what we post and completely stop attacking posters, pointing fingers, naming posters within our posts, and having all out cat fights. There is no need to bring up who you think posters are or were....that will never be a topic here. Also--multiple nics is not a topic here. We can only speculate when that comes into the topic and it always has the same end result of a fight.
Also-- no spelling or grammar police for that is not a requirement for anyone to become a member here.

The thread does not need to remain on one single topic for the news changes on a daily basis. Old news/new news about any cases, laws, books, appeals, etc. will make it a delight to communicate with each other sharing our information and opinions. I would like to open with the latest news I have read regarding Jessica Lunsford Law. I am trying to find out if this law is in-fact making changes.

Quote:

Florida to Change Jessica Lunsford's Law
Florida lawmakers plan to change the law named for nine-year-old Jessica Lunsford -- who was kidnapped, raped and buried alive by a convicted sex offender -- because the law as it is now written could keep legitimate employees from working on school grounds.
Florida To Change Jessica Lunsford's Law

The link is a crime/punishment blog so I am aware that it is a blog.
What I am interested in knowing is if anyone has heard about the changes to this law .... and if this actually going on....!

Thanks In Advance...... And I Hope That We Can All Post With Respect....!

Oh, and Hey Rosie!!!
Hello......

Good to see you and anyone that decides to stop by. I really hope we can all put aside our differences and respect each others opinions. I miss everyone from all sides..... that is what makes it so interesting around here.

If the opening topic is not what anyone wants to discuss let's open this up to anything on the docket......

No chat threads tho..... cause we will end up in Open Court.

It looks like the way it stands now even misdemeanor viloations are taken into account. Or at least that is the way I am taking it.

The law was aimed at sex offenders and child predators, but now requires schools to ban anyone who has a criminal record involving "moral turpitude," which could include a variety of misdemeanor violations, driving under the influence, and embezzlement.

"We're going to change that because that's too broad and because it's being interpreted by different school boards any way you can imagine," said Sen. Nancy Argenziano, who represents the district where Jessica lived.

typical government imo

How can anyone enforce what is not clear?

Make a law no one understands or knows how to clearly interpret it. Then go back and have to redo the entire thing. What a waste of our money.

Why not have focus groups to gain input and clarification FIRST?

Moral Turpitude
n. Blatant violation of moral conduct standards, vileness. Moral turpitude acts are considered to be intentionally evil which makes the act criminal. More severe charges or penalties may be incurred if moral turpitude exists.

But how typical to take a solution to a problem and go completely over board. Like the zero tolerance rule being used to justify the explusion of grade schoolers with a plastic butter knife in their possession.
One man's medicine is another man's poison?

IMO they rushed into this law as soon as possible due to this crime. This man was working around children and right across the street from Jessica. They did put a super rush on this law and I am hoping they can super rush the fine lines out and make things clear.

Hi Everyone.....

I watched Psychic Detetectives last night and I am now searching for the name of the murderer from the show. I cannot remember his name. What caught my attention at the very end to make me want to look this up was---- the juvenile son that murdered his father was only senteneced to 7 years in juvenile detention. Now how in the world did this happen?
Did anyone watch the episode last night? I am searching court tv for this information right now and so far no luck.

During my search I ran into a transcript from Noreen Renier chatting with court tv and found out she has sued someone for calling her a fake.....!!

Quote:
fmagelan asks: Does she answer questions relating possible relationships?
ctv_will: I'm not sure about that.
She calls herself a psychic detective, and not a psychic relationship counsellor, but there are few questions
back here about what other things she does, so we'll find out how narrow her focus is.
I don't know if she necessarily does future stuff.
She doesn't predict the crimes, she helps solve them.
By the way, she was telling me a story the other day that she is the only psychic she (or I) know of that has sued a skeptic for slander and won.
Or was it liable? Anyway, she sued the skeptic for lieing about her in a paper and won the case.

Does that make her legally psychic?

indiobravo1 asks: what's being legally psychic
ctv_will: That was a joke
because she sued someone who said she was fake and she won.
How the heck does the law determine that?

I have wrote on various boards an believe that Scott Peterson is Innocent. Some posters got my name, address, phone number and are now posting it on the Modesto Bee Site along with relatives names. Since I am 64 and recovering from a stroke and cannot afford an attorney I was hoping I could get some advice if anything can be done about this........ Thank you.

I do not like this information out in modesto as I believe the killer of Laci has never been found and he went to alot of trouble to place those bodies at the bay to frame Scott.
