Horrific racist attack in UK

Quote:
A murdered teenager was left with an axe embedded in his skull after a "racist, vicious and unprovoked" attack by a gang in a park near his home.

Police are calling on members of the community in Huyton, Liverpool, to help them catch his killers.

Anthony Walker, an 18-year-old A-Level student, died in hospital after being attacked on Friday night.

He had been taunted at a bus stop with his white girlfriend and a male cousin. They moved but were attacked in a park.

My experience was just the opposite. I saw a vibrant, cosmopolitan, broadly racially integrated society. The further North you go in UK, the less integrated it is.

This story just breaks my heart. Such horrid cruelty, such senseless irrational hatred. You would like to think we have moved forward and away from this kind of evil act, but we haven't yet have we. A young man with so much going for him, enjoying his family and girlfriend and bothering no one. How horrid for them, his family and friends. An accident or illness would have been terribly sad. This outrageous act must make it unbearably hard. The world has lost out on a fine young man and what he would have contributed. His family has lost a piece of themselves.

I think I'll go back to my new Harry Potter book. jmo

The young man even tried to walk away from the situation without retaliating to the verbal abuse. The message this killing is going to send is worrisome.

When will people realize that the price they pay for hating others is loving themselves less? Racism is so unconscionable. I'll never understand the mindset of racists.

I have to ask... who in the world walks around with an axe in their pocket, for crying out loud? They attacked the poor guy and embedded an axe in his head!

AXE DEATH - MAN ARRESTED

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a race attack on teenager Anthony Walker with an axe in Liverpool.

The 18-year-old A-level student was left with an axe embedded in his skull after an unprovoked attack.

Anthony was ambushed close to his home in the Huyton area of the city on Friday night.

He had gone to a bus stop on St John's Road with his girlfriend and cousin so that his girlfriend could catch a bus home.

At around 11.30pm, a man wearing a hooded top shouted a torrent of racial abuse from outside the Huyton Park Pub.

To avoid any trouble, Anthony and his friends walked to the next bus stop, through McGoldrick Park.

But they were followed and it was here that Anthony was attacked by a gang of men.

His girlfriend and cousin ran to get help - when they returned minutes later, they found Anthony slumped on the floor, an axe in his head.

He was taken first to Whiston Hospital for emergency treatment and then transferred two miles to the specialist Walton Neurological Centre where he died.

Thank God they arrested him! I hope they find everyone involved in the attack and have sufficient evidence to put them away for a long time. I just can't fathom how such violence can stem from someone's intolerance of a person's skin color.

I have never understood racism and what validity those who are, have for racism. Just doesn't make sense to me. To hate someone for the color of their skin, so much to taunt with names, etc. and to murder As you say, Pay It Forward, who walks around with an axe? This never should of happened...

For Anthony Walker, Rest in Peace. Prayers for Mr. Walker's family and those who loved him.

-IMO-
Peace

Police hunting the killers of black teenager Anthony Walker have named two people they want to trace.

Detectives believe Paul Taylor and Michael Barton, both aged 19 and from Huyton, in Merseyside, could have left the country.

Mr Walker, 18, was attacked with an axe by a gang of up to four white men in Huyton on Friday in what police said was a racially motivated incident.

A 17-year-old was still being questioned on Monday.

A man, aged 18, arrested on Sunday, has been released on bail.

He won't have been charged with murder, he has been released as they will have no evidence against him at this time,

it is normally what is called part four bail, and you are required to return to the police station after a certain amount of time to answer your bail, and then he will be told if he is to be charged with any crimes.

This is normal as the police only have a fixed amount of time to hold a person who has been arrested before they must charge them.

I totally agree with your post.

Hatred of others who have done nothing to you, has to come from within and is misdirected.

This is such an awful story.

Police say they also want to question Michael Barton, 17, the brother of Manchester City footballer Joey Barton, and Paul Taylor, from Huyton.

I hope they catch these murderers asap and sling them in prison. It's disgusting and I am shocked.

Im shocked as well because I remember when Spain football team made racist "monkey sounds " towards Man U and the country was outraged so this is not how England should be represented by these punks

eta it was against England not Man U (senior moment)

Pay, I wondered about the axe, too. Good question, who carries an axe around? His buddies showed up after he initially started his attack. If he called them to join in on the attack and they brought an axe along, hopefully they can prove pre-meditation.

I don't "hate" anybody, much less someone I have never met. How can people hate somone so much that they kill him if they don't even know him. (shaking my head in disgust.) It's been said many times that if we hate a person, then we must hate something in them that's also a part of our own identity... otherwise it wouldn't bother us.

It is completely unacceptable to judge anybody by the skin colour. The footballer's brother (Barton) wanted by police seems to have come from a 'charming' (not) family.....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai...1/sfnmac01.xml

Joey Barton will be allowed to return to Manchester City's Carrington training ground later this week only after he has started a counselling course.

The midfielder has been told to stay at home until the club have organised the 'lifestyle coaching' classes imposed as part of Barton's punishment following his role in a drunken brawl on the club's Far East tour. City also hit Barton, 22, with a £120,000 fine after the late night altercation and the player was overlooked for City's weekend friendlies at Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday.

Detectives have now released on police bail all four men who were arrested in connection with the killing.
-------------------------------------------------
Detectives are still trying to trace Michael Barton, 17, and Paul Taylor, 20, who are also from Huyton, although it is believed they may have left the country.
-------------------------------------------------
Doreen Lawrence, the mother of Stephen Lawrence, who was stabbed to death in a racist attack in London in 1993, had earlier visited the scene of Friday's killing.

"I'm only hoping that this time that justice will be done and seen to be done, because Stephen's killers are still walking free and I'm hoping that Anthony's killers will be brought to justice," she said.

I agree with this theory. Charles Barkley wrote a book called who's afraid of a large black man. Excellent book he talks to President clinton, Tiger Woods, many different folks on the topic. Very good read!! Charles is in an interracial marriage for many years and he touches on that as well.

I think it is very dangerous to convict people in the court of public opinion or on the say so of a right wing newspaper,

not one of these individuals has ever been found guilty of this offence by a jury in a court of law

it can be an opinion but it is not a judgement in Law, and until they are tried and convicted they have the presumption of innocence in the law

This is a forum where people have a constitutional right to exercise their right to freedom of speech, opinion etc. You post here? I'd say absconding and returning with your solicitor in tow looks slightly suspicious?

Thousands of mourners gathered in Liverpool for the funeral of black teenager Anthony Walker on Thursday.

The 18-year-old died after he was attacked with an axe in a park in Huyton, Merseyside, in July.

His family wanted the service, which was held at Liverpool Cathedral, to be a joyous celebration of his life.

Sad story!
It seems as though people here in America only think racism exists here, obviously it is all over.
