Tenn Killers
There has to be a reason why today, our country has so many teen killers. Rae we suposed to throw away all of our children, forget them and let them rot in a jail cell forever? How many new jails will we have to build to house so many. We live in a throw away kids nation. Who should be blamed for teens who muder parents or any one. We need to stop take a step back and try to understand just what is happening to our teens today. Nancy, I love you so very much. My only thing is you need to find some kind of passon in your heart. I know that you feel that your life ended when they took away your guy but please, hate only makes more hate and it hardens the heart. God forgave mankind for murdering his only son. I think that all of us need to remember that.

Good post.
I do not understand why the law considers teens too young and unable to make decisions to drink, smoke, make a legal contract, join the Army, have sex, get married etc. yet when they kill they are old enough to have made the"decision" and face life in prison for the decison. They are left with NO hope for the future and face a life behind bars for something they "decided" to do when their brains were not even mature enough to make ANY life altering decision. This country is one of a VERY few that puts teens in prison for life. IMO the law has to decide if they are adults or kids but it has to be both ways IMO. If prison is good enough for them for LIFE from 16 years old (or younger) on then damn it they should be able to make other adult "decisions" as well.

Murdering someone in cold blood isn't ever right or legal at any age and it's something we normally understand to be wrong, even during our earliest years of life. That's why our laws don't specify that kids can't kill...normal kids don't kill, they know it's wrong and illegal, no question about it.
In the Johnson case, she premeditatedly committed murder knowing full well what she was doing was illegal and wrong. Why should she not suffer the consequences? Why should she or any other individual, strictly because of their young age be excused for what they did?
If Johnson had her way, someone besides herself would've stood trial for murdering her parents...she certainly tried to blame others, didn't she? She thought she could get away with the crime. She is a manipulative and calculating individual who left the judge in this case no option for sentencing her due to her lack of remorse and her refusal to take responsibility for the crime. What could he have done differently under such circumstances that would keep the rest of society safe?
At one point, I felt sorry for her due to her psychiatric history but, she was NOT a paranoid schizophrenic hearing voices commanding her to kill her parents in order to rid society of two evil beings which would warrant sympathy for her not being aware of right or wrong at the time; however, she simply exhibited the psychopathic behavior of a cold blooded killer. Maybe others have a different opinion but, I think she sealed her own fate and I feel sorrow only for her parents and those who mourn their absence.

these laws work in very interesting ways. a 10 year old can be charged as an adult. now, obviously he isn't, but he can be charged as an adult because of the "severity of his actions." now, although he has been charged as an adult, therein implying that he is to be treated as an adult, his parents are the ones who make his decisions. he cannot decide to take a plea deal; he's too young. he cannot decide to plead guilty; again he's too young. the court will appoint a guardian to address those issues, but essentially this 10 year old adult is deemed incapable of making these rather important decisons, dur primarily to a lack of understanding of those decisions, but he can be held to adult accountability purely for the purpose of punishing. now, given his youth, and the violence that exists in juvenile prisons, these DAs are essentially setting this child up to be fresh meat, later to be turned over to adult facilities at 17 for more of the same, and then will appear surprised when the guy comes out harder than nails.
this is what i call a "law of convience." you're only given adult status when you do something wrong. save someone's else, and you're just another "cute" kid.
